They just had to cut the map of at Zeleinople...damn it, my home town, New Castle, is just north of there.

You know, we were finalists for an NFL team way back when...the New Castle Never-has-beens, but we were passed over. Oh well...always the bridesmaid... :D

Steubenville is about 45 minutes west of Pittsburgh.

We grew up in Erie (PA) and get back about 1 time every two or three years.

Kim & I have 2 kids now - 4 & 2 years old - so travelling isn't as easy as it once was.

I grew up in a little town called Girard right outside Erie and have plenty of kin-folk that live in Carrollton and Steubenville (Ohio).

(sniff) This is like the best family reunion ever! (sniffle).

Hey Birdie, didn't you tell me when we met at the Vikes game that your brother was in Baghdad? Any word? (sorry if I don't remember the specifics, maddog and joel were trying to get me drunk and ravage me so my mind was preoccupied)

Have you ever been to Millcreek Mall?

BTW, I almost said Fairview because I didn't know if anyone ever heard of Girard.

Sure have heard of the mall! We lived in Erie until fresh yr of high school (83) & we get back every few yeards.

I was there in Sept for a cousin's wedding. My dad has a huge family (2nd of 13 kids) - so we have lots of family back there still.

I moved out of there in '80. My dad's job moved him to Phoenix. I will say until I die that was the best place in the world for a kid to grow up.

I KNEW there was a reason why I let you try and get me drunk. If you are gonna get taken advantage of, who better than family?

BTW- around these parts, we call 'em "kinfolk"!

I know - it was great growing up there! We had a creek in the back of our house, some woods & rode ourt bikes everywhere. Our family back there still doesn't lock their doors to their houses when they go places!

It is a great place to raise a family!

I went to school at Edinboro and have a few good friends that live in Lake City...and one that's from Girard.

Anyone that lives near 301 cherry st? That's where I lived '76-'80. Lake City that is. I can't believe ANYONE has heard of it. I have never seen it on a map, and when I moved away there was only about 500 people living there. What a small world.

It's sooooooooooo tiny. I don't know how they come off calling it a city. Do you know they actually have a police department? I kid you not! Well, a cruiser, anyway.

Yeah, I remember they had an IGA (where we bought groceries) and a pharmacy that had the "PHAR" fallen off from the sign. My mom used to say "we're going to Macy's" and I never caught the humor in that (Macy's thanksgiving day parade) until I was older.
What a great place to grow up.

(sniff) :)

Not in Lake City - but downtown Erie - my parents had 2 rentals at 4th & Cherry - a developer bought them & knocked them down to build a mini-mart laundromat. It was next to a rockin Babtist church.

Billy Blanks (Tae-bo fame) lived in that area & we used to go down there & do yard work at the rentals & we'd play with his younger brothers.
Nice family
