Another great OL pick. I actually thought we would draft him round 4 before the draft. Exceptional depth pick.

From what I've read he has similar skills to Nate Solder, but needs time in the weight room to build lower body strength.

Massie will be in the starting lineup fairly soon. The other two are projects.

I think Massie ends up as a solid RT for us.. If one or the other two can become a solid guard, then we did an excellent job.

This is a true developmental LT. So raw, but man, if he can develop, he could be really good.

You are not alone in your prediction on our first pick, you'll be happy to know. Fully 7% of posters who voted on the Poll agree that it was a horrible pick.

I know..... Still though. A man has to stand on his own two feet. But I do have to admire the stones it took to pass on Massie in the third.

My opinion is this..... Our Passing offense would be much better if we fixed our run game and protected our QB. We could have traded back, gained extra picks, and still gotten Reiff, Decastro, Glenn, or Adams.

It also doesn't help that I think Floyd will be a huge bust either.

Time will tell.

Why are you so convinced Floyd will be a bust? How much did you watch hom play prior to draft season?

Watching Notre Dame on NBC each week (My wife is an alum) I always got the feeling that he is an undisciplined guy who got by on talent. Everyone continues to talk about his practice habits being great (which I cant speak for) but how about what we see in games? I never got the impression that he was trying to make sharp cuts, and that his routes could use a ton of work. And how many times have we heard this practice habits schtick when a player has personal issues?? A ton.

Now as for his personal habits..... Undisciplined people drink and drive. Undisciplined people blow a .19 after hitting stop signs. Undisciplined people get into bar fights. Now he could just be a dumb kid who needs to grow up, but I see someone who has a lot of growing up to do. And I don't think Fitz can fix that.

All this leads me to believe he will have problems creating rapport with his QB. His timing will be poor, and his offensive significance will drop once defenses figure it out.

Finally..... They took away his captaincy. That, to me, is a big deal.

Fitz ran horrible routes coming out of college as well. Most college receivers run bad routes, IMO that's a bit of a ticky tack knock on his game. What I really like about Floyd is his ability after the catch. Fitzgerald wasn't nearly as good at gaining RAC coming out.

What's also nice is he will make the catch to begin with.

Ticky tack all you want...... When I am making a 1st round selection, I want it all. And we had the option to get someone with less question marks.

Fitz was the pre-eminent talent coming out in his year. IIRC he was #1 on Kiper's board, and the #1 skill position player in the entire draft. Comparing Fitz to Floyd is a poor idea IMO.

This kid looked like a
converted TE when I saw highlights. Shocked to see he started at LT from day 1. Hopefully he can put on some lbs - if Lott can get this kid to put serious time in the weight room lookout.

I don't understand why this guy was available in the 7th round. He is the best lineman (Left Tackle no less) on the offensive line that gave up the fewest percentage of sacks of any line in the nation. He is a first team all american for almost every publication.

He has been starting since his sophomore year, so I can hardly think of him as raw. Someone said something about not being as strong as scouts would like, but good grief, that is an easy fix with the right training crew. As I watch the tape and look at the numbers, I cannot see why this guy could not put up a good fight for a starting job at LT at some point.

Oh, he was a great student as well.

Having a lot of bulk is not always the best. The best LT in az Cards history (Luis Sharpe) was considered significantly undersized.

Do you think this guy can become a LT eventually? I think it was said at NFLN that he could be the eventual heir to the LT spot for the Cards. It shouldn't be that hard if Brown plays the way he did for the majority of his career...

On the other hand, Potter can become Brandon Keith as well, who in my opinion is worse than Brown. We'll have to see, as always.
