Maybe I am nutz....but if the Kolb deal is done for DRC and our 2nd.....we should jump on the phone right damned now to Denver and offer our 3rd for Orton...or has the Miami deal been completed?
Because just Kolb does not solve our QB situation....Skeletor is not ready...so who is the #2??

Orton wants to be traded because he doesn't want to be a backup, and he makes $9 mil a year and if all goes well he won't even see the field and leave in a year... this just doesn't seem realistic to me.

I'm all in on Korn Kolb. He's my QB. He's got plenty of rope, much more than DA ever had.

The small amount of experience he has had has shown some really strong upside, and some lows. Like any young QB.

At the end of the day, I'd rather have him than any other QB in the draft class this year. We wouldn't suck enough to get Andrew Luck next year, either.

So, Kolb it is. Awesome. I am all on board, and if he's half of what his potential is then we are gonna take a strong shot at the division.

This is cynical but we often complain about the Cards not at least getting value and letting their picks walk for nothing (see: Rolle). Might be a premature conversation based on how much time DRC has left on his deal, but he is leaving with hopefully our QBOF coming back.

True,...it would be a bit expensive,.....but for some guys the opportunity to compete for the starting job is enough. It would shore up the position for the team...hedge the bets, and the competition would make them both better.....because no matter how you look at it we still need to have three QB's on the roster, and at least two of them need to be good enough to win some games.

I'll welcome him when it's official.

This.

Agreed. Hope it works out, but I don't like the move.

Don't like Kolb, and don't like giving up a pro-bowler and a high draft pick for an unproven player.

I'm in that camp as well; however, I didn't like the DA signing when that happened, but supported him anyway (which was painful). I will do the same for Kolb. As soon as he's a Cardinal, I'll be behind him 100%.

......and some undrafted FA as #3.......................

Some teams don't even carry a #3. Having a #2 with starting experience is the better than a lot teams have. It simply doesn't make sense to pay $9 million for a guy who isn't supposed to see the field when you only have $120 million to go around and 40some other players who are going to get real playing time throughout the season. Paying $9 mill for a backup QB means a glaring hole on one or more other parts of your roster.

I agree on Skelton as a great #2. He's holding the clipboard but also learning from it. He's raw but he has actual experience. And for the fan in me, I'll be intrigued if he comes on the field rather than just hoping for the best.

Everybody's so worried about that second round pick, look at it this way how many of the Cards last 10 second round picks would you be willing to toss into the deal?

There's a really good chance that whoever the Cards would have drafted with that pick would break their leg in camp and never play anyway.

Finally years of inept drafting is starting to pay off for the Cards, they can now justify overspending with trading picks because they were just going to make a horrible selection anyway. They must be taking a page from the Suns.

Clayton reporting that Kolb got 5 years 63 million with slightly more than 22 guranteed.

If so that really sucks.

Kolb: 5/63 (22 guranteed)

Rodgers: 6/65 (20 guranteed)

Rodgers got that contract when he was an unproven backup just like Kolb.

Keep posting this lame argument on every thread though, I'm sure there's some haters who will buy your line of BS. Rodgers next deal will be out of this world and you know it.

So basically what we have now is one clipboard holder replacing another. :D

Welcome Kevin Kolb. As the newest member of the Cardinals, you have my complete support. Good luck and stay healthy.

ps - Score early and score often. This team plays much better when it has the lead.
