Have to judge it in it's entirety. Hopefully we got a steal with Achooooooooooooooo!!!

Truth. Cant draft 7 hall of famers in one draft.

Is Nostradamus available for GM/Scout work?

It would sound like an MLS Soccer game. Not sure how I feel about that

You would only really hear it 15 times a year(after each sack) You can deal :)

or 60-70 times (after each tackle, fumble recovery or interception).

So yeah. It may sound like a soccer game still. Perhaps I should bring some molotov cocktails to the game when things aren't going our way :D

Very good pick. ESPN pundits said before the start of round 4 that it's very important that last day picks be able to contribute on special teams. Sam I Am should be able to do that.

Just read this on his NFL combine bio: "However, he is a bit of tweener at this point, as he does not have the bulk to be stout against the run and lacks the athleticism to play linebacker in a 3-4 defense"

I saw some explosion that we sorely need, but this has me curious.

At 260 - he'd be small as a DE, but not as a OLB on the strongside. About the same weight as Davis and 15 lbs heavier than Haggans.

yeah..the good thing is he has talent combined with will to get better(something all kids in the draft say they have, but don't follow through). he is a great kid. hopefully he can be a solid addition.

Acho brings the kind of toughness and leadership the defense needs. He is great at stringing out the run and finishing off the play. He's super smart and plays at a high octane level. The concern I have is that he is not a particularly natural pass rusher---but he can bull rush---and he can maintain his edge---so if he develops stronger hands and rip techniques, he may be a steal. He will work hard at it---this kid has tremendous will and character.

Credit where credit is due: Acho is an excellent pick at #103.

This kid is Cardinal Tough.

Clif---this kid attacks the run, he is tough at the point of attack and he is very well discilined. At his pro day he showed the kind of flexibility and change of direction skills 34 teams were looking for.

What's not as sure, imo, is can he be a consistently legitimate threat as a DE in the 4 man rush?

Here is what draft scouts says about him.

Pass rush: Hustle pass rusher who needs work to excel at the next level. Good burst upfield after the snap, but lacks flexibility to get under the pads of an offensive tackle and turn the corner. Must improve using his hands to shed upon initial contact while maintaining balance. Strong enough to bull rush but does not use that move very often on the edge. Good secondary effort; attacks the pocket until the ball is away. A number of his sacks come when lined up inside. Capable of disrupting passing lanes but doesn't get his hands up consistently.

Run defense: Often takes on double-team blocks while lined up in the five-technique position. Plays with fair strength at the point of attack and frees linebackers to make plays behind him. Assignment-sure player, keeping containment on his side of the line when set up outside either tackle. Keeps his eyes in the backfield when engaged. Can punch and shed the block to get outside when not doubled. Could disengage more regularly inside and often watches backs run through the hole. Nice hustle in space, will chase down mobile quarterbacks from behind. Plays with good anchor for his size but must bulk up to play five-technique at the next level.

Explosion: Not exceptional in this area but has a good combination of strength and explosiveness off the snap. Does not turn the corner on better offensive tackles. Strong upper body and length give him a good punch on initial contact for bull rushes and when making plays against the run. Does not project to be elite rushing the passer, which limits his upside.

Strength: Has the weight-room and functional strength to play at the next level, but more consistent hands would increase his value. Can stack the tackle on the edge and hold his ground against the run using leverage.

Tackling: Not an explosive tackler but is strong enough to force fumbles when wrapping up quarterbacks. Gives great effort to bring down ballcarriers. Uses hustle and length to chase down plays to the sideline and downfield. Only adequate change-of-direction agility in the backfield -- will be frozen and eluded by NFL-caliber backs as he fails to break down. Willing to be the second or third man into the pile.

Intangibles: Intelligent, hard-working player who puts in the time in the weight and film rooms. Received multiple national Academic All-American awards, the 2010 William V. Campbell Trophy and National ARA Sportsmanship Awards. Brother Emmanuel is a junior linebacker for the Longhorns. Parents born in Nigeria. His middle name, Onyedikachi, means "who is like unto God".

Acho has a great mentor in Joey Porter...very pleased with this pick.

Acho is an excellent replacement for Clark Haggans. Schofield gets Porter's spot. I'd have taken Sam in the 2nd,3rd,4th wherever. I've watched him for years and the guy just has a nose for the football.

Texas defense was awful last season, Earl Thomas leaving early left them with the worst Safeties in the Big XII, and several times during games I made the comment that if it weren't for Sam Acho the scores would be 55-17 instead of 30-17.

Best thing about him being a 4th instead of a 2nd or 3rd is that it greatly increases his chances of being a solid player for us for a long time. :D

This is my thought too. Acho is coming from being a DE in college and is at 260 lbs. Perfect size for strong-side OLB in the 3-4 taking over Haggans' spot. Now if Schofield can be an effective replacement for Porter, and Acho can take the starting role by mid-season, we may have a stout defense up front.

Remains to be seen though. Players have to develop and we're asking very young guys to start. Lots of question marks.
