Ok where are all the guys on this board who wanted to spend a 2nd on this guy? Great pick. For what it is worth, I think that Williams pick in the 2nd is for the Bengals or Philly. It is the only possible reason I could think that Whiz didn't know about the fumble ratio.

My thought is that the Bengals got their guy in the second, and had a deal in place with the Cards to pick for them.

I'm glad posters are more happy with this pick. The tension was becoming unbearable.

Love the pick and sounds like he is very smart, has intagibles, production, and went to big school. I thought of DJ the minute the pick went down and would have been cool with him in the 3rd.

So hopefully we have a Champ Bailey type corner
A new runner
A pass catching TE
and Acho

and we haven't even got to our traditional best pick yet in the 5th :)

I am not as pissed as most. If Williams becomes the starter and Housler becomes the pass catching TE I have wanted for this team for ages, then I am pretty pleased. Housler is also the swing pick for me. I am confident Peterson will be a star and Williams will be worth the pick. If Housler hits we are in the money.

Trade back up and get Quan Sturdivant.

It's funny how 1 draft pick can change everyone's mood :).

Hey, hey! That's a helluva pick, and redeems the draft a bit in my eyes.

Look at it like this: a lot of ASFNers were saying we should take Acho in the 2nd. So put him there, Williams in the 3rd and Houser in the 4th. I don't think we'd be bitching nearly as much....

Isnt the Matthews kid from Oregon still available?

D'oh! I didn't mean to hijack the thread. I thought I was posting this as a separate target. I'll do so now. But no, he would be at best a WILBer. He's just not a thumper that he'd need to be to play SILBer.

McShay says he's a backup.

Future Hall of Famer.

Mayock liked him. NFL network stated that we have put together a "nice group of players."

Me too. Can never have to many.

But we all need to remember that we still have a guy with high 1st round potential on the roster with Schofield coming back completely healthy. Him and Acho at least bring some youth to the position.

Yeah I want a vet OLB like a Wimbley and that will round it out for us IMO.

Rest of the picks are OL and one ILB.

I could see Ricky Stanzi being our 5th rounder too but I am not feeling that.

Even though there is NO WAY Williams made it to the third. No way no how.

Yup, I'm thinking of it like Peterson 1, Williams 2, Acho 3, Housler 4.. makes things a lot more.. palatable.

Sam Acho=Great pick. I hope OT James Brewer lasts and is taken by the Cards in the 5th.

Good news for both the Cards and the fans.

I want a backup NT picked if there is value there. The only "need" not addressed now is O-line and the NT.
