I see them almost as clones of each other. I would think that Fitz might be a little better at catching difficult balls although Boldin did that a lot last year. I would think Boldin would be better at getting open. He had an uncanny nack for doing that last year. It was amazing how he could confuse three guys trying to cover him by hiding behind players or finding different seams...

Fitz is a better leaper with deceptive speed to go long. He is better at the leaping grabs while Boldin is better at the diving type grabs.

Fitz is also better in the red zone in the fade routes. I wouldnt be surprised if Fitz was the go to guy in the red zone this year.

So then Boldin is Zeus and Fitz is Hercules son of Zeus and half god who eventually becomes a full God.

I saw Boldin make some incredible leaps, I don't know you can say Fitz is better at that... Now the red zone...maybe... Thought they could have used Boldin even more last year actually. He almost always looked open. When he had the least space between him and the defender on the short routes was when the qb's always seemed to throw to him.

I can easily say it I have watched them both play. Fitz is taller and a better leaper it is as simple as that. It isnt a knock against Boldin just that Fitz is better at it.

NFL.com has Fitz at 35.5 inch vertical. CBSsportsline had Quan at 36.5 vertical pre draft.

SImilar, Fitz is 2 inches taller.

Funny reading the draft stuff on Quan now

Negatives: Comes out of his stance a little slow, showing hesitation before getting into gear a few steps past the line...Not very quick in-and-out of his cuts...While he can catch very effectively with his hands extended, he tends to cradle-catch the ball, at times... Needs to show better sideline awareness, as he tends to struggle keeping his feet inbounds...Struggles at times to adjust to the off-target passes...Has to secure the ball better before turning upfield after the catch...Has to get more aggressive with his hands to prevent the initial tackler from making the hit at the point of the catch.

They all pegged him as a hard worker with a great attitude, but it's funny to see all the negative stuff after the year he had.

Q leaps tall buildings at a single bound, but Fitz leaps smaller ones only faster and more acrobatically.

Based more on commentary than first-hand obs, I'd guess that Fitzgerald is faster, jumps higher, is more acrobatic and can make more impossible catches.

Q would appear to be tougher, stronger, (a premier tackle-breaker), a smidge slower, a more polished route runner, a very dependible pass catcher and more comfortable running inside patterns.

Don't knock the similarities - i.e. they're both humble, work extremely hard and understand what it takes to succeed.

This is a good assessment.

How can you say this?! You do know that receivers are drafted every year right? How many rookies have had better years than Boldin? Add up all the players who have been drafted over the years and how many played as well as Boldin his rookie year and the odds are against Fitz having the better year. The scary thing is I think Boldin could have had even a better year. I remember yelling at the tv for the qb to throw Q the damn ball! He was open a lot when the QB just didn't get the ball to him...

I thought Boldin was pretty much Moss scary last year. He couldn't be covered. If we had a seasoned quality QB last year I think Boldin would have been even better utilized.

i don't think he said fitz will have a better year, i think he said he thought fitz would end up being a better wr. i could see that happening. and wouldn't it be great if it did? that would mean fitz is near-moss level in impact.

As long as both Fitz and Quan produce and helps this team it doesn't really matter who's better or not.

i think both may have the chance to become terrel owens good, moss is the most physically gifted receiver i think that has ever played. i think i have to agree with vikesfan in how much a talent moss actually is.

that said, two terrell owens on one team (without the attitude) would be amazing on this team.

Yeah it would stop the opposing defenses put 8 men on the box.

Bingo. As good as QUan is, if Fitz turns out to be even better, or just as good, that can only mean more wins for us as a team. I'm sure that's how quan thinks too, he won't care if he only catches 85 balls and the team wins twice as many games so why should we?

Fitz is going to have to show what he can do in the NFL. He was a solid pick very polished and acrobatic but now he will be facing the best in the world every week. I think he can be a very good NFL WR. But we have to see him in action. Q has done it for one year. I don't think it was a fluke. If a player can do it in one NFL year then he has the tools. I think these two guys could be a dynamite combo. And if B Johnson can develop the Cards might become the greatest show on grass.

Great by giving the offense a nickname you just jinx the team.
Nah that is not their nickname I am just using another team's nickname with a slight alteration to put across my point. No nicknames until success comes; and then only original nicknames.
