What's funny is.. I really don't like Voivod that much. Nothingface is the only album they have that I like, but I absolutely LOVE every note. I consider that album a Master Piece and I don't like anything else by them.

Very odd indeed. I like a few misc songs here and there, but they clearly spent all their greatness on this one Album. Soundgarden in my opinion, is far superior. Bad Motorfinger came very close to making my top 10 list.

Jesus Christ Pose is one heavy mutha!

I love that song.

No descriptions, no album cover art, just a list of 10 of my favorites, impossible to rank 1-10:

Pink Floyd - Animals
Tool - Lateralus
Tool - Aenema
Yes - Fragile
Metallica - Ride The Lightning
fill the next 5 spots with ANY Rush or Pink Floyd album

:band: --- just had to :)

4. Mariah Carey - The Emancipation of Mimi
5. Michelle Branch - Hotel Paper

7. Norah Jones - Come Away With Me
8. The Notorious B.I.G. - Life After Death
9. Robin Thicke - The Evolution of Robin Thicke
10 - Stone Temple Pilots - Purple

These sorts of lists are hard because there are many albums that would make the list in the past but my musical tastes have changed too much since then. But I'll give it a try anyway. In no particular order, and limiting to one per artist:

porcupine tree - in absentia
blackfield - blackfield
anathema - a natural disaster
coldplay - parachutes
dredg - leitmotif
muse - absolution
osi - office of strategic influence
dream theater - awake
queensryche - promised land
pain of salvation - one hour by the concrete lake

edit: forgot to include any queen or pink floyd but they must be on the list too

Just think of the WHOLE album. That made it easier for me. Cause if I took it as per my favorite bands, plus few good songs here and there, I would have never gotten it down to 10.

Ice Cube - Death Certificate

Right there brings back some memories.

I am not a huge rap guy but I do like those albums. I also like Public Enemy, and the standard white boy rap artists like Tribe Called Quest, and the Beastie Boys.

We're leaving out Classical? Cause that's at least half my true top ten. OK... this is hard because it often depends so much on what I'm in the mood for, and some rotate through every few years But the ones I would want along on a space trip --

Nirvana - Nevermind
Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed, or to cover them better the 40 Licks compilation
U2 - War
Pretenders - Learning to Crawl
Carlos Santana - Supernatural
Idan Raichel Project
Crowded House (probably Recurring Dream)
Prince - Purple Rain
Neil Young - Harvest
Sade - Diamond Life

On another day or another space trip, I might easily sub in any of Radiohead Kid A, Getz/Gilberto, Beatles' Help, Police Every Breath You Take, Quarterflash, ESPN's Anthem Collection, Beach Boys, Dire Straits, Alice in Chains, Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited, etc.

(Actually, there's a whole other thread, on what music has been ruined for you, because I had half a dozen considered for the list I realized I just can't bring myself to listen to anymore, for one reason or another.)

In a van...down by the river.

I can't do rap,hip hop or modern R&B but i can do Da Lench Mob "Guerillas" CD. "Freedom got an AK" is tight. I can jam to that CD thru & thru for some reason....maybe because there's actual instruments being played.
That and there's groove there.
