What could have happened to Boldin?

What I haven't seen in alot of these discussions is the fact that the Cards offered to extend him at the end of the 2007-08 season. Boldin, probably at the advice of his agent, decided not to sign and wait until Fitz got his deal. Too bad, you passed on your chance.....you go to the back of the line.

Heres how I see it. Q was thought to be the best receiver on this team for a long time. In fact , we argued back and forth right here on this forum of who was the best, most valuabe and so on.
Q signed his extension and all was well and good. When Fitz hit his incentives and thus hit the jackpot, reality hit Q and his agent. He was no longer top dog. He was never going to get a contract like Fitzerald signed.

His agent quickly realized that there was a better than good chance he could get a better deal anywhere other than Arizona. Problem is, he still has 2 years left on a deal he was once happy with. Solution? Cause turmoil. Go thru the press. Plant seeds on malcontent. That is the M.O. of one Drew Rosenhaus-wrecker.

So be it. As I have said all along NO player is bigger than the bird on the side of our helmet. Keep in mind how 2 of the most successful franchise this decade, that being the Pats and Steelers , have let players go there own way. Guys like Joey Porter and Asante Samuels to name just two.

This ship will sail next year with or without Boldin. I guess I just will never understand how a player who is now a multi-millionaire can bad mouth an organization that made him that.

With that, I am done talking about Anquan Boldin until he decides he is going to be a Cardinal. If he gets what appears to be his wish, I will be talking about what we got in return. I wish him good luck whever he may end up.

I think it goes to show that Boldin is completely naive in this deal. I applaud NBC for asking pointed questions to the FA or questionable players during the pro bowl and got them out of their element. Tiki was able to get Boldin to admit he wants to play for the fans and his teammates and that his beef is with the FO, but that "we'll see in a couple of weeks." Im sure Rosenscum was watching that on TV and going "shut up, SHUT UP!!" Thats why Rosenscum is telling Graves not to bother offering anything, so he can tempt the Cards into money whipping him.

As posted earlier I think this is the last I will be talking about him until he stays or he goes when we will take up discussions on his deal or what we got that helps us in the trade.

Frankly, I don't care anymore why Boldin is upset and I'm sick of his sh*t. I hope we trade him and be done with it already. He's a great player, he's fun as hell to watch run after the catch, he's got a lot of heart, he inspires toughness, yada yada yada. I've had just about enough of his crap though. And, besides, he costs too much money, we already have the best receiver in the league in Fitzgerald and a nice third receiver in Breaston. I really can't see my way through this mess. I believe the Cardinals tried in good faith to make a deal but were told to wait until after Fitz was signed. After that, Q didn't like the offer and felt he had been lied to since he was told a deal would be made. The bottom line from all of that for me is that on the business side there is a stalemate and Q does have two more years on his contract.

I see several possibilities but do not know how they would play out.
Is there any chance Q will accept a new offer? It doesn't seem like it. Will he be traded by draft day? Very possibly, but I doubt many of us will be satisfied with anything we get after how much he has meant to the team. If he isn't traded and is expected to play out his contract, how ugly would that be? Would it be a serious distraction or just background noise? I have more questions than answers. My instincts tell me he will be traded. The organization has every right to hold him to his final two years but I have to wonder how productive and or destructive he would be. There is also a calculated risk that his trade value could drop significantly after another year of injuries. I am torn between holding him to the contract and trading him now to add another piece to the machine that Coach is engineering. Again, I doubt any draft pick or player would satisfy the fan base, but all I want is to win.

Thanks for the memories Anquan, you made losing more bearable for a long time. I believe we will have to enjoy winning without you. If you came out and said you wanted to finish your contract and then be traded I would cheer you as hard as ever for two more years but I don't hear you saying that.

For a long time Q has been a BIG fish in a small pond, then Fitz got his money and DR sees Q isn't the big fish anymore and not only that the pond just got bigger. So DR needs to get his man into a small pond where he can be a big fish again. A team where Q can be the big name WR like he used to be here...back in the day

MONEY.

Everytime a player signs a contract he gets a commission. The bigger the contract, the bigger the commission.

Drew says "Sign this 5 year contract for 30 million" and gets his comission off the 25 mil. 2 years later he tells his client the same thing, bad advice, and bad business for his client because it will cause a stink but what does he care ? He gets another chance at a 5 year 30 million dollar commission.

Drew R. doesn't care if he runs his clients' name through the mud, and his own. Just as long as he gets his money.

Why else does Dockett ask for a new contract a year after signing a 5 year contact, same for Q ?

Why else does Drew try to get his clients signed by big money teams ?

Anquan Boldin cares about MONEY! He wants money, money, money.

He likes to play football that is for sure, and I don't doubt it for a second. I don't doubt that he respects his fans, and his teammates. But not more than his wallet.

I also don't think he cares about making his mark in the history books, personal records, team records, yadda, yadda, yadda. The evidence is how Boldin has plateau'ed and Fitzgerald has passed him by in regards to being an NFL WR.

Anquan Boldin wants his money, and wants it now. The "dissrepect" he feels is the money he has lost by staying with the Cardinals, and not getting a new contract two years ago with a big money team.

I fail to believe Boldin is niave to not know how this business works in the NFL. The front office lied to me, is B.S. The front office didn't offer enough money, or make him the #1 priority at all times, is the problem.

So now, as we all know, he feels slighted, that the organization cost him money. He doesn't want to spend another day in Arizona, listening to the same B.S. they have told him before. "They will get to him and his situation".

He wants his money NOW!!!!

At least that is how I see it.

This is not a slam on Anquan Boldin at all. That is what he wants, and how he wants his situation to be. It is what it is.

I can't fault a player who wants to get paid. He has the skill to deserve more money, and attention by an organization. He is a #1 WR and the Cardinals have two #1's making for a volitile situation.

Boldin is the man, and I will always be a fan of him. I stopped caring about off the field stuff, especially when it comes to business in the NFL. All players, actions, and situation are under a micro-scope so it will never look "good".

What will hold for the future for Boldin, and the Cardinals ? I have no idea. I take it all with a grain of salt at this point.

Till somthing is in stone, I really don't care.

there's always the simple solution of making him play out his current deal. He'll have to play at least 20 more games for the Cards if they hold him to it. That deal wasn't forced on him.
