Cards Donate Turkeys To St. Mary's Food Bank
The Arizona Cardinals and the Bidwill family have donated 500 turkeys to St. Mary's Food Bank to help celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.
Cardinals President William V. Bidwill, quarterback Josh McCown, Cardinals Cheerleaders, and team mascot Big Red helped hand deliver the turkeys for the food bank on Tuesday, November 25.
“Someone on our staff heard that St. Mary’s was having difficulty with their supply of turkeys so we gladly stepped in to give a helping hand and we are just happy to be here and get them delivered today,” offered Bidwill.
The St. Mary's Food Bank, located in south Phoenix (2831 N. 31st Avenue), planned to distribute 7,000 emergency food boxes comprised of turkey, cranberry sauce, and vegetables to people around the Valley. With only 3,000 boxes distributed so far this holiday season, it needs help with the shortage.
“I am just glad to be part of this today,” shared McCown. “The loss on Sunday was a tough one to swallow but being able to help out today far outweighs any kind of a win or loss. This is what really matters. I’ve been blessed to never have to worry about having food to eat and it is sad that so many people will go hungry this Thanksgiving. I always hate to see food go to waste knowing that there are people going without so I am pretty tough on my daughter about never wasting food. I encourage everyone to come out and donate whatever they can to this cause so we can help out more families this week.”
People can deliver turkeys to St. Mary's at their drive-through from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26.
