Not that I actually care much, but I'm bored and there's not enough info coming out.

If I am not mistaken I think Kiper gave us a B but I do not have ESPN Insider to back that up

ARIZONA CARDINALS: B

Larry Fitzgerlad obviously is a great pick and Karlos Dansby is a nice fit for their system as a pure pass rusher. Darnell Dockett is a first-round talent if he stays focused, while Alex Stepanovich is a backup type on the offensive line and Antonio Smith could turn out to be a nice fifth-rounder.

Personally, I agree with him. Those that give this draft an "A" are being homers. I think that you have to "wheel and deal" a little bit to earn that "A". This was just a solid, if unspectacular draft. I'm still unsure why we took two centers in a row and no cornerbacks.

I agree with you there and I stated that a couple of days ago. A team like San Diego or Detroit may get an "A" because they traded around to get more quality players. San Diego actually picked up a slew of draft choices and got the QB they probably wanted anyways. Cards get a "B". If they had traded into the first round and picked up Gamble, like was noted, then maybe an "A" (provided they also picked up Dockett).

Some things never change. Hell, Kiper has to like the the Fitz pick. He went out on a limb early claiming Fitz was best player in draft. He took some huge roasting on the draft day show. The dude is falling. If Fitz wasn't on the list, he might give Cards a C-. Dockett is a whacko/criminal type. Nobody drafts centers and the Cards took 2. They drafted a statue for a QB. No RB, no CB. No Safety.

I don't see Safety or RB as a need this year. Jackson and Wilson are fine at safety and I think we need to see what Shipp can do with a full seasons worth of carries. As for the QB where they drafted Navarre I have no problem with it, he isn't going to outrun anyone but hopefully he won't have to--hell hopefully he is never more than our #2 during his stay on the Cardinals because McCown becomes a Pro Bowler.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on the CB situation though, as I look at that its downright scary. A lot is depending on the health of Duane Starks--if he is healthy and can return to form we will be OK, not great but OK.

Wilson needs a seeing eye dog out there. He blows in coverage. Shipp is it in the backfield and that is scary because he is backup at best. I hope the Fitz backers will enjoy the horizontal passing game next year. Watch out for some violent collisions next year about 7 yards downfield. Short careers in no man's land. The new rules will be geared for DBs keeping hands off WRs downfield , and Cards still don't have downfield threats.

Nobody drafts centers................Jeff Faine was a first round pick last year and Jake Grove a 1st round (essentially) pick this year. Sometimes Wally, you can say the most insane things.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

So what?

I don't know. I guess "perspective" is a bad word to some people. It's like saying that Marcel Shipp is a 1600 yard, 15 TD back waiting to happen. It's all right to feel that way, but if you do, then you might be missing out on an actual good back.

I try to be realistic when looking at drafts, team needs, whatever. I think that keeping perspective is more important to being a "good fan" than blind allegiance. At least I'll know the reasons why things are going wrong.

I guess we'll agree to disagree, I think Shipp is capable of 1000-1200 yards(65-75 yards a game)and that alone will keep defenses honest. He's not an elite back but I don't think we would have found an elite back in this draft anyway(with the exception of Jackson). Emmit Smith IMO will be much more effective with limited carries and giving Shipp a break on occasion, he still can run but obviously age doesn't allow him to be as effective as he used to be.

As for Wilson, I haven't lost confidence in him yet. I still think he can play--and again Safety was not as big an area of concern for me as say CB, DT and OLB.

I can't say I completely like the draft but I have a "wait and see" approach. I am not going to just blast it because they didn't draft the player I wanted them to draft.

You've apparantly been brainwashed by Madden and fantasy football too much. :D

Long live "homers" and loyalty to your team. It's "faith" baby...just like religion..it doesn't always have to fit logic and reason.

Exactly. The real question marks that I had is (1) we didn't draft any corners, but got two centers (and I don't agree with Krang that either [or both] will turn into quality starting guards) but no cornerbacks or 2-gap DTs, and (2) we didn't draft anyone from the University of Miami (FL). I liked Navarre, I liked Dansby, Fitzgerald, Dockett (where we got him), but I'm really wondering about the two guards.

Wait and see, though.

Well, you just covered the entire history of centers drafted on the first day in the history of the draft. My statement was an exageration to make a point. Drafting centers is hardly anyone's priority and taking 2 in the same draft. Come on.

Damien Woody was a first rounder as well.

Either way, a pretty ******** claim...

Leckey, according to Green, was drafted to play guard, so we didn't draft two centers.

I'd give us an "A" for attaining "value" for every pick and a C+ in terms of filling key areas of need.

And (despite disagreeing somewhat with the concept of ignoring need), I give Denny an A+ for executing his plan.

Of course not, Wally is the biggest unobjective homer on this board.

Yeah, no kidding. The majority of the Ohio St/Miami/Oklahoma/Texas fans on this board have little to no credibility with me when it comes to judging players from their schools and their rivals.
