Yeah... Kiper (or someone) said that John is a scratch golfer. Hopefully, he'll be playing in the Charity thing. I want him in my group!

"Best Player available"??

THAT was the strategy according to Coach Green. ...And we drafted (7) of the TOP (103) prospects in the country!! I'd call that a SUCCESS!! Did we plug all the holes?? Of course, not. Champions are built--NOT "acquired". ie; Redskins. (3) years, my friends. We will go from year #1-Turning the corner to year #2--Becoming a force to be reckoned with--to year #3--DANGEROUS!! GO CARDS!!

Kiper on ESPN radio last night

This thread seems to have taken a turn for the worse. I don't know what Kiper ended up rating us but I think it's important to relate what he said on the radio last night.

He said that he gave out the grades 2 minutes after the draft was over. He said that now that he's had a day he feels that there were 8 teams that had a real solid draft. He started out with Atlanta and ended with Arizona. He specifically mentioned Denny Green and thought we pulled great value off the board.

If I am not mistaken I think Kiper gave us a B but I do not have ESPN Insider to back that up

USA Today gave us a top grade. They did not use ABC but had us as one of the teams that helped themselves the most. That suprissed me.

Personally, I agree with him. Those that give this draft an "A" are being homers. I think that you have to "wheel and deal" a little bit to earn that "A". This was just a solid, if unspectacular draft. I'm still unsure why we took two centers in a row and no cornerbacks.

I originally had us with a C+ but now will go to a B or B-. I have this feeling that the Michigan QB will be our biggest supprise.

Wilson needs a seeing eye dog out there. He blows in coverage. Shipp is it in the backfield and that is scary because he is backup at best. I hope the Fitz backers will enjoy the horizontal passing game next year. Watch out for some violent collisions next year about 7 yards downfield. Short careers in no man's land. The new rules will be geared for DBs keeping hands off WRs downfield , and Cards still don't have downfield threats.

I am with you that Shipp is a bonified backup. Next year we need a RB along with CB's.

I think New England got Cedric Cobbs from Arkansas in round 5. I think you will see a lot of Cedric Cobbs in the future. If we could have gotten him in round 5 he was sure better than what we got and was someone we had a need for. I am not totally sure he was not taken in round 4. Obviously Batman was on a lot of the boards up high as he went around 25 while many posted he would be a third rounder. You do not teach 4.3 speed and great man to man cover. Green Bay got him.
