I have seen some thread that said Suns were unprepared. Some said Suns were ready not to draft anyone. Did draft went this way because Dan D'antoni is new to GM position? Or all about Sarver? Are we going to see the effect/regret of Colangelo leaving to Toronto?

F but the last drafts with Colangelo weren't any better really. He screwed up making a trade thinking Iguodala wouldn't be there but he was there.

Well considering this is a DRAFT and they came away with no players you would have to give them an F. However, if this allows the Suns to resign tim and possibly another back up point guard then I am OK with an F.

The Suns need to make a run now not try to build for the future at the expense of making a run next season.

Right now I will give the Suns a generous Incomplete.

However, if the Suns do not reinvest the money saved back into veterans then I will be totally devastated.

Right now, there is much weeping and gnashing of teeth. :hairraise

These trades did not "allow" us to sign Tim Thomas. We had the ability all along. All this did was allow us to sign him without going over the luxury tax. Any move that does nothing but keep the owners out of the luxury tax deserves an F in my book.

An 'F' for not drafting Marcus or anyone for that matter. I assume they will use the money on TT and to sign a vet. If they do not, then a 'U' , a 'C' , a 'K' , a 'E', a 'D' follow in my grade.

That is the same thing. We all knew that Saver would not go over the luxury tax. So we would not have signed Thomas..hence we really didn't have the ability. This allows us to resign him and possibly bring in a veteran backup point guard. Again that is good.

However, in terms of a draft grade..... you have to say an F when you come away with no players.

Why do you begrudge an owner staying out of the luxury tax? That is just a waste of money, money that can be used for other things. Do you think that people should tell you how to spend YOUR money? His job is to put a contender on the floor, something he has done both of the years he has owned the team. Why should he pay luxury tax?

Especially when you go in with two picks.

I think your team did great if they are able to basically return with the same team as '05-'06, with a couple of players added in free agency. Very creative way to ensure they have the money to resign their important players.

Unfortunately, you're confusing ability with choice.

Anyway, there's no need to jump off a bridge. It's unlikely anyone they would have picked would have done anything this year anyway. I'm just sick and tired of the fact that half of the moves this franchise has made over the past 5 years have been to save money instead of improve the team. And when lack of quality depth has been our biggest weakness the past two years, it makes it that much more frustrating.

The #21 trade gets a 'B-'. They didn't get what they came for (immediate help at guard) but that Cleveland pick should be better than the pick they gave up--in about the same spot as this year, but in a much stronger draft.

The #27 gets an incomplete. It all depends on whether and how they spend that money to fill out the guard position.

I'd have given them a 'B+' for that pick if they'd kept Sergio Rodriguez, but that's JMHO as always. :|

Please, repeat after me. D'Antoni did not want Williams. He said as much before the draft when his name was brought up. Why should he draft someone he doesn't want? Just for the sake of drafting someone? CMon, get real. If you don't like D'Antoni's team philosophy, then let that be known. But if he doesn't want a late round player, then let the man do his job.

Seriously, How can anyone give this draft anything but an F?

We traded the picks for money, plain and simple.

This is the same things the Cavs used to do and the NBA made up a rule so owners couldnt do it anymore.

Robert Saver found a way to still do it while saving face.

This was a meaningless draft for us, we should've just forfeited the picks instead of making the entire organization look like money pinching bafoons.

Wouldnt surprise me if Saver fired the entire scouting staff next to save some dollars, since we don't use them anyways.

This is now the second season we've made it deep into the playoffs, and the team made a profit, yet its so hard to send the payroll slightly over the cap and pay the damn tax.

What? Where was this team two years ago? They haven't improved the team? What are you talking about. Notice that you said quality depth. Apparently this draft didn't hold that, unless your eye for talent is better than that of the Suns' staff.

I completely agree. Your post was LAME.

You, I, and everyone else knew that they would not pay the tax, so why are you even bringing this up? Are you saying that Sarver hasn't put a winner out on the court? Now, perhaps if the NBA would repeal the tax idea, then the spending argument could have more merit. But obviously the NBA does not want owners spending over the cap, hence the tax.

In order for their to be a choice, you have to be willing to make it. Sarver was not. Therefore, there neve was a chance they were going to go over the luxury tax. Only owners like Mark Cuban have that "luxury".

At any rate, I never was jumping off a bridge. I think if they use that money on Tim and another veteran free agent, that is more then we would have gotten out of the draft anyway.
