Who'd we overpay?

$2.2 million per year for a proven competent starting QB.....peanuts.

$2.8 million per year for a FS who represents an upgrade over Lassiter in every conceivable way (age, salary, skills, attitude).

$1 million (or so) per year for a FB who finally has the blocking size and power to be a factor in the running game.

Gee, I thought we had to wildly overpay to get people to come here. We may have had to offer MORE than other teams, but by no means did we overpay any of these players relative to what we're getting.

True and all are good players, but it appears to get a "really good" player we may have to overpay.

My only question, if we signed all 3 Monday, would Colvin still have not wanted to play on the West Coast?

Oh well beggars can't be choosers I'm very happy with all 3 signings.

There's not much to be had in terms of WRs in free agency.

Keep it going!

We still have lots of cap room and NEEDS. I don't know who the heck we are going to get to rush the passer.

Are there any wr f/a or the draft that could step right in and ease the pain of losing Boston?

I would say Miami's Gadsen, or maybe Crowell would be nice additions. Qadry Ismail I believe is available as well, nobody great but the Cards have zero WR's

I think the FA money is starting to dry up and the Cardinals are using their leverage to up the ante on teams

The Cards WOULD have to overpay to get the top notch guys to sign if they could get one to DO it.

BUT, these signings are good. Blake is adequate, Jackson is an upgrade, Hodges (sorry if I didn't spell that correctly) is better than Mackovica and Darling will help Special Teams.

Very positive day for the Cards. I have been a critic of Mr. Graves but I have to say "WELL DONE!" on these signings.

Update on Hodgins contract per KFFL:

Cardinals | More On Hodgins - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
14:28 PT: Don Banks reports for CNN/SI.com FB James Hodgins four-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals is actually worth $5 million. As noted earlier, it included a $1 million signing bonus. The Cardinals said he canceled four other scheduled free agent visits upon agreeing to terms. "He's a very versatile player who has played in the same type of offense that we run here," coach Dave McGinnis said. "He can swab out a hole for a runner, catch the ball out of the backfield, and line up in a variety of positions. He's done a little bit of everything, and that kind of fullback is a position we wanted to address."

Yes.

We "outbid" but didn't overpay. Big difference.

scary thing is all three cost about what Plummer ran us last year. Anybody think we got worse by trading Blake, Hodgins and Jackson for Plummer?

Excellent point.

Plummer vs Jackson/Blake/Hodgins/Darling.

Discuss.

What about making a run at WR Kevin Dyson? Seems to be a complete receiver, without blazing but good speed.

Oh, we could use a lot more help. Just about everywhere, even OL.

Kudos to Rod.

The sweet thing now is the more people we've signed, the less our need to compensate - for being a "team on the downswing" - with extra dollars

If they need to sweeten the pot to nail down Holliday, they have the bucks to do it (and they should).

Same thing with Conway. (He has a knack for getting free deep. And Blake has the arm and deep accuracy to hit him).

Some dude (was it Walter M?) included Crowell in with Conway. Normally I'd agree, but I believe Germane has a highly suspect shoulder.
