What if Sapp's demands were not "out of this world"

He's 31.....hell Ted Washington is 38 and he signed with another team.....what if Sapp was prepared to sign an incentive laded contract.......that was "cap reasonable" given that he is a very talented DT.

We could then focus on the CB position at #33 and walk away with "a keeper" or use that pick for a RB that would round out Green's offensive unit with that Michael Bennet type player.

Hell, it's only Monday and this is a brilliant idea........if I don't say so myself!

Yeah I mean it's not like he's turning 40. I know we're focusing on youth, but would it be SO bad to have a vet with a couple of good years left?

He's got a mouth on him, but the dude was a LEADER on his team, and could really bring some of that "swagger" everyone is always talking about.

Somehow I find it hard to belive he would want to come out here, but the guy has been completely ignored by the league, and may start to freak out here very soon.

Plus I'd bet he'd start crying for more touchdowns on the goal line. Thats all we need is another excuse not to get Shipp in endzone for another year

I agree to not break the bank on him, but bringing in Sapp would work wonders for this team. It would give us an interior presence that would free up our DE's from constant double teams from the middle of the o-line. Give us some toughness on the D-line along with quality verteran leadership. Also it is not the Marcel Shipp situation, where we have a young talented guy at Dt that he would be taking time away from. DT might be our weakest position on the team. Actually screw might, it is.

Bring him in, Draft Taylor at number 3 and grab Lee Evans, Rashaun Woods, another receiver or a CB in the second round. Suddenly things aren't that bad in the desert.

It would be nice to have that big body in the middle of the line. I feel his ego is big enough that he wouldn't play here if for no other reason than the Cards retired #99 some time ago.

Gilbert Brown would be a cheaper player to sign and would have equal impact. Especially when you consider that with Berry we have a DE that has more sacks than the entire line did last year. The combination of Brown and Berry would allow Pace, King and maybe even Bryant to be more productive.

Hey with all those "B" initials in the lineup we could call them the "Buckshot Defense" or the "Big Butt-Kickin' Bureau". Just kidding about the last part.

The next big free agent signing period begins June 1st. He may last that long. Since that is post draft and pre camp, teams might show a lot more interest then. Suppose Tony Dungy calls Warren and offers him a medium size contract and a Super Bowl ring possibility with the Colts ?

I am sorry but to say that Gilbert Brown will have as much of an impact as Warren Sapp is obserd. Brown can't play half of a game or stay healthy for a full year. He is not threat to rush the passer nor is he a leader. Gilbert Brown...I'll pass.

That's an odd statement from a silent observer.

Seriously, you are entitled to your opinion of course, but obviously I don't agree.

Sapp is probably, at this time in his carreer one of the most un-coachable player in the entire NFL. At least Brown works within a system.

I don't believe Green wants any "Super Stars" on the field. He wants to develope them. I feel in the defensive players we have available, we only need a big body at tackle. But we do need to improve the interior line for our pass rush to even happen. The DEs and the LBs will probably be looked at to pressure the QB more than the tackle.

This is of course only my opinion. Anyone can be wrong.
