Mclaurin looks like a technician out there, the difference between him and our Keesean Johnson, is elite speed.
Metcalf runs 9 routes well and has used the threat of the 9 to drive off his man and pull up on a stick route.
However he is sloppy in and out of his breaks in the rest of the route tree, he doesn't stem the top of his route to take advantage of his size vs applied leverage and his ability to get separation, and he body catches when he doesn't have to.
There is a lot of parallels between Isabella and Metcalf's current ability despite the obvious physical differences that speak more to development and coaching.
If Isabella puts in the work, his quickness (not just top-end speed) will make him a huge asset...the question is will he put in the work?
Of course, I could be completely wrong, I was only a HS coach and that was a few years ago and I know the game has changed tremendously...
