I think the QB should tote the rock with regularity.
Preferably while running the option.

If I had it my way, we'd be running the wishbone in tear-away jerseys.

Jerry Tagge hasn't signed anywhere yet, let's dial him up.
Maybe Jamelle Holiway as a backup.

You can't really put your full push off weight on it, but you can jog, and walk around without much discomfort. The injury takes 4-6 weeks to heal.

But not for Lefty. For him, it's an 8 month recovery. I'm not concerned about his future injury problems from this at all. I was skeptical when I saw the show he and his teammates put on, when he was carried down the feild for show.

I'm not a doctor is a stress fracture and a hairline fracture the same thing? I don't think so but I don't know it could be one of those a square is a rhombus but a rhombus isn't a square deals.

I think you are way offbase (like usual) to accuse him of dodging workouts. He is a tremendous QB, and even if he doesn't workout at all, he will still be a top ten pick.

I agree that defense wins games.

Thanks, Krang, you beat me to it. He just assumes Leftwich has had the EXACT same injury as he did and that he had the same kind of mobility that he did. Even if he knew the full implications of Leftwich's injury, a doctor he is not and he wouldn't be very qualified to diagnose anything.

C'mon, man, quit trying to sound like you have some kind of 'inside scoop' on his injury, or that you KNOW he has the EXACT same injury as you did. It's getting old.

Thanks for the link Russ- "lower left leg had a hairline fracture."

The leg beneath the knee has two bones, the fibula, and the tibia. The fibula is the big bone, the front of which is called the shin. The tibia is a small bone on the outboard side of the fibula, it helps stabilize the leg like an outrigger on a boat. This small bone is the one that breaks, since it's on the outside. If he has a stress fracture of the big bone, he wouldn't be able to walk, since it supports all the weight. If it's the tibia, he could do what he did on the feild, but it should have healed a long time ago.

I agree that people heal differently, but do you want a guy that takes so much longer to heal than normal?

I keep wondering where people are getting this "Leftwich isn't fully recovered from his leg injury" from?
Reports on the progress of Leftwich's rehab are a mixed bag. At the Combine, one scout observed that Leftwich's leg buckled when he stepped up to one station. But another scout said he never saw anything like that.

Then there are the medical reports - If they're "officially from the League", I'd buy them. But if there from "sources", those sources could be his agent.

But aside from the questions about rehab - there are also issues about Leftwich's mobility when healthy - he's not exactly the reincarnation of Michael Vick.

The kid may be able to throw the ball through a brick wall at 80 yards. But if he's a sitting duck in the pocket, he's likely to only throw a few of those before he gets splattered.

I know I'm overstating the case a bit. But that's what the concerns are.

my pops is an orthopaedic surgeon. he's also a diehard cards fan with seasons tix since they moved to the valley. i've discussed the leftwich sitch with him a few times. he's not concerned. that's enough for me.

leftwich is the prototype passer. in many ways he reminds me of bledsoe, but with more leadership qualities. he's got a cannon of an arm, received excellent coaching at Marshall (check out how many of Marshall's players are in the league, it's surprising from a "lower echelon" program), and his players would run through walls for him. if the cards have the opp to take him and pass i'm gonna have to do a lotta party favors at coachella (wahoooo) to deaden the pain.

that said, simms stinks. even in a blowout victory (the colorado game two years ago in austin) he was thoroughly unimpressive. his name is greater than his game. rex? don't wanna touch someone from UofF. defensively those players excel, offensively, well, other than emmitt and freddy t., the system seems to carry 'em. finally ragone, whom i like. at the beginning of the season i expected him to have a phenomenal year and sky rocket up the draft charts. i watched him in a few games in the prior season and was really impressed with his pocket poise/presence, his arm strength, and his leadership. this year his team really broke down around him. i can't remember which game it was, but it was pouring and the announcers just kept shaking their heads and commenting on how hard ragone was trying to lift his teammates, but he just had no help. i think he could develope into an excellent qb and do so quickly (as opposed to mccown). finally boller, whom i don't like. his accuracy in college scares me. as an athlete he's superb, but for a qb the athleticism is a bonus. i want a qb first kinda guy. just not sure boller is cerebral enough. maybe a jake with a bigger gun.
