But isn't even close to Melton defensively.

Of course, I didn't mention Okobo in my original post, just Melton.

Just saying - I think one is gone in trade, and it sure seems like Booker and the Valley Boyz are bigger fans of Ellie.

Suns might change their training staff as well. With all the injuries it's worth reviewing.

Evan Sidery‏ @esidery

.@kevinarnovitz said today on @ZachLowe_NBA’s podcast that the Suns might fully overhaul their basketball operations on all levels. Could lead to training staff being replaced for first time under Sarver’s ownership.

Oh so much has changed under Sarver. I remember when they used to call our training and medical staff innovative.

And the best in the NBA.

Still the Suns seem to have a lot of players out injured in recent years. I guess some might be attributed to tanking but mostly the injuries appear legitimate.

Seems like they're getting injured earlier in the year. I don't know if its just conditioning or not from the young guys not putting in work during the off season.

It is a recap of the team that ended the 2018-19 season (except possible for Jimmer), isn't it?

It definitely needs to be reviewed. Too many injuries not to be concerned. Maybe the workout regimen needs to be changed.

Something needs to be changed. I'm glad they're at least reviewing things. I'm not sure what changed over the last few years but the injuries have been plentiful. We've probably seen our starters miss more games to injuries in the last 2-3 years than any 2-3 year stretch during Nash's run here, with the exception of Stoudemire.

I don't have a reason for all the injuries but that new training facility should help when it opens.

The NBA needs to start allowing teams to monitor their players with the technology available. Players aren't allow to wear a fitbit, which is nuts, especially since they have their logo on the Wolves jerseys. The NBA bans all teams from doing any sort of technological monitoring though. I know there could be an advantage but if they implemented a rule where something was standard, like only THIS item then it shouldn't be an issue or advantage. I think that would be a step in the right direction in order to monitor players fatigue and know when potential injuries may happen.

As it is though, a new facility should help some but you'd think if it worked 10 years ago then it should work the same now. At least it shouldn't provide worse results.

I'm for anything that helps prevents injuries. It would likely have to be approved by all the teams and the NBA.

I suspect a lot of players live away from the arena. If a facility is put near where they live, I suspect they will have better results. Perhaps the players are not using existing facilities as much as they should which might be one of the reasons for increased injuries.

You're probably right that Melton would be the one traded but that's because no team would trade us a bag of chips for okobo, dude won't be in the league in the next few years , shouldnt have been in it last year

They need the new facilities as far away from Scottsdale as they can, or closer depending on how you look at it.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Regardless, I think the problem is lifestyle not a lack of tech. Younger players frequently ignore the advice to stay away from alcohol and processed foods, I suspect our guys do the same. These young men finally have the time and the financial stability to do as they please (for the most part) but you cannot be at your peak physical level eating big mac's and drinking beer regularly.

IIRC, the new training facility will prepare meals.

Like I joked about the training facility being farther from Scottsdale, IMO these guys are just going out too much and not putting in the work to be a professional. Maybe we see that in the injuries, lack of conditioning (it took them a long time to get conditioned), lack of strength development and most importantly lack of production. Just speculating and a bit of venting, its still a frustrating organization to be a fan of.

And that was likely what the organization was expecting to get from the veterans, passing on to the young players an understanding of what it takes to thrive in pro ball.

The Suns have until July 1st to sign Oubre to a new contract before he enters free agency.

Here is an excerpt from a Duane Rankin article:

However, Oubre played so well for Phoenix, other teams will have high interest in him and he might get that $15-20 million a year deal.

Matching the deal also wouldn’t impact the Suns' salary-cap space (around $7 million) if they keep his cap hold ($9.6 million). But league sources have said the Suns are willing to go over the cap

So are the Suns better off signing Oubre before free agency?

I would like them to make a decision on Warren before deciding on matching hefty deal for Oubre Jr. If Oubre Jr is the guy then they should trade Warren first imo before bringing back Oubre Jr.

Based on Warren’s comments from the exit interview, it doesn’t sound like he really wants to come back to the Suns anyway. Probably better to do something about that before it gets ugly (like the many other times we’ve dealt with it recently).

I didn't hear Warren's exit comments. I'm not sure when they can trade him.

It feels like TJ is already gone. I'll be shocked if he returns.

I'm hoping that the decision to move Warren has already been made.
