I have been saying this since early last year. Guy is waaay overated and just gets swallowed up sometimes. He wasn't double-teamed at all yesterday and had zero impact. His job is to get up field but when he comes off the ball he tends to stand straight up and dance with the guard or center.

I was really expecting to see a vocal emotional leader out there and I'm not. He even seemed to just give up on plays yesterday. I think we might be seeing why he slipped to the 3rd round of the draft now.

At one point yesterday I saw a coach screaming at him and benched him. Something aint right with this guy.

I don't know if it is attitude or skill or laziness or a combo of all three but lets see what Darnell "Wendel Bryant" Dockett can do or get him the hell out of there.

It really has been a while since he has done anything. We have some depth after a good draft and Watson and Lewis are probably worth a look if we don't get better on the defensive line.

Agree that Moore gives us a better push. Dockett made his way into the backfield a few times and even got a push from time to time but he has stopped making plays.

I believe you are correct. In fact, I'm 100% in agreement. Dockett fell in the draft for a reason, and IMO he's going to have an off-the-field incident reported in the next couple of years. I loved his aggression in his rookie season, but from what I've heard of the guy, I seriously think he's a head case.

Here's another guy who needs to be benched starting from next game... he is a liability on the DL.

Reminds me of our back-up running back Arrington. No vision whatsoever.
Get off the freakin' block and tackle the dude running through the gaping hole to your left or right.

I never really saw what everyone seemed to see in this guy. I watched the replay & on Gore's big runs, Dockett was simply blown up. I would prefer to see a bigger man like Watson or Moore playing as opposed to Dockett. We need an immovable object in the middle of that defense. I think that DG has had it with some of these guys. They either produce or he'll sit them.

MJ said on his radio show yesterday that one of the 49ers plans against the Cards was to run at Dockett. The word out is he can't stop the run. Langston would be a better starter especially on run plays. Perhaps bring Dockett in on passing downs.

Perhaps just keep his butt on the benth permanent! Hes a prime example of Green's decision to bench Macklin being a real head scratcher. This team has some decent depth and with guys that seemed to be performing really well. Yet they dont play while Dockett continues to do nothing for the 2nd straight year. You can only have accountability if you do it across the board. Thats why I dont think the benching of Macklin is sending a message to anyone other than Macklin.

Dockett was actually in the pocket 3-4 times on Sunday but he never really made the play. And yeah he got blown up repeatedly on run plays, I'm with others I'd rather start Langston Moore and Clancy and I want to see more of Watson I was really pleasantly surprised with him in preseason.

I don't know what it is with Dockett he seems to think that the game is about helmets falling off and making late hits. THere was some buzz yesterday that apparently Dockett was taunting Alex Smith after the late hit at the knees. Smith has apparently declined to comment other than to say while the hit looked bad he really wasn't hurt Dockett basically flipped him, he said something liek sometimes hits that look mild cause injury and hits that look savage don't. But there was talk on radio yesterday that after that hit Dockett was talking trash to Smith and even his own teammates were telling him to shut up.

I go back to Jeremy Green's comment, he plays the game for all the wrong reasons if that doesn't change, he won't be a Cardinal too much longer.

I saw a quote from Dockett in one of the stories yesterday about that hit, and he seemed like it was normal for the game, and he wouldn't slow up ever. I understand playing all out and not playing timid and all, but that hit was a HUGE mistake and could have really changed the outcome of the game at that point. An idiotic play and for him to not realize it and say what he did was double ********.

Have Darnell drop 25 lbs and move him to DE.... he seems to only rush the passer and not stuff the line.

It really pains me to watch Dockett play and a lot of this board was defending him when I was on his case last year. I would love to see anybody else at that spot.

All I did was report what Pendagast said, I have no opinion on it ... yet.

We will see if Harry is correct but that pathetic 15 yder was not a good sign of things to come.

Anyway, I am still a fan of Dockett's. Most of the time he is double teamed and one can only do so much. But do tell me, are Watson or Moore better off of a double team?

I am remembering last season and some of the preseason games. He was double teamed. Trust me, I listen to alot of what you guys say on here and watch at the next game, you all have taught me alot. But I know I have seen Docket double teamed alot (can't say about the Niner game though).
