This one is all about how you feel about Horton.

I want Gruden or McCoy with Horton as DC.

What is Horton's contract situation? If he doesn't get another HC position, isn't he under contractual obligation to be the DC for the Cards next year? He can't go somewhere else and be a DC can he? Unless the Cards were to let him go of course.

That's correct, but I'm not too certain of when his contract is up. Could be after next season.

The way I understand it, permission to interview is permission to split. I think they have to let coaches interview in some cases.

They have to let them interview if it's for a HC position. Otherwise they can deny permission.

Horton with separate coordinators.

And I am secretly rooting for the Skins to lose so that Kyle Shanahan becomes a candidate.

My position right now is that I would prefer to go with a offensive guy like McCoy, Gruden or Shanahan. We would lose Horton as DC regardless of whether we make him HC or he goes to another team and our offense is in absolute shambles. I would prefer a head coach that can put an emphasis on improving the offense as soon as possible.

i would prefer a GM to help select the HC as part of his or her staff. A GM must have the authority to supervise the staff.

That has nothing to do with this question.
