Dr. Strangelove is a great flick, a classic -- guilty pleasures shouldn't include classics, should they?

As you get older "classics" change.
I would think the majority of people here do not know who Peter Sellers is, or Stanley Kubrck? Or how revelant this B&W film still is today.

To me it is a guilty pleasure.

Seriously? Who doesn't know who Stanley Kubrick is?

Is this an open question to the general population of America? Because I think you know the answer to that question.

Reading the movie lists I've seen here recently, especially this one, I would say a not lot of people.

Unfortunately, a google search makes you aware of the name but not the art.

I try to keep in mind that I have no taste what so ever.

These are classics in my mind:
- Princess Bride
- Planes Trains and Automobiles - "She's short and skinny, but she's strong. Her first baby come out sideways - she didn't scream or nuttin."
- Caddyshack - It has Rodney Dangerfield in it for Pete's Sake! - "Oh, this your wife, huh? A lovely lady. Hey baby, you must've been something before electricity."
- The Big Lebowski

Walter Sobchak: You want a toe? I can get you a toe, believe me. There are ways, Dude. You don't wanna know about it, believe me.
The Dude: Yeah, but Walter...
Walter Sobchak: Hell, I can get you a toe by 3 o'clock this afternoon... with nail polish. These ----ing amateurs...

I would show pride in enjoying these flicks!
- Scrooged
- Conan

Guilty Pleasures:
- The Blair Witch Project
- Evan Almighty
- Steven Segal flicks of any sort
- The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
- Rushmore

I think only those would be considered guilty pleasures.

Conan?

Come on! :)

Conan, what is best in life?
Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!

I think Princess Bride might fit, if you're a guy. Agree with the rest though.

No way. No need to feel guilty for enjoying Princess Bride.
Not guilty at all. It's a great quote movie.

Inigo: Who are you?
Westly: No one of consequence.
Inigo: I must know...
Westly: Get used to disappointment.

Vizzini: You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000764/Fezzik: We face each other as God intended. Sportsmanlike. No tricks, no weapons, skill against skill alone.
Westly: You mean, you'll put down your rock and I'll put down my sword, and we'll try and kill each other like civilized people?

Nah, that movie is just a pleasure for nearly everyone. No guilt whatsoever.

Wow, ok. I've never seen it. It's not like I have actively avoided it, but I haven't gone out of my way to buy it either. I might have to change that. *gulp*
