Simple question here. For the sake of the thread, I am supposing we stick at 16, which may well not happen. If we do stick at 16, who don't you want, and what positions do you want to avoid.

I'll start. The positions I don't want there (without stating the obvious like kicker) are: OG, S, ILBer, CB. I'm leery of taking a WR but could get on board, I suppose. No CB is going to fall that far that is worth it for us, IMO.

As far as players, hell no to Stewart, and no to Simmons. I know who I want, but as for the rest, it is an absolute crap shoot. I'm pretty sure we're going Edge, but other than a gut feeling that Pearce is the guy, I got nothing.

It should be interesting!

Kelvin Banks

Scourton
Jihaad campbell
Will Johnson

My guess for the pick is Mykel Williams if we stay. My preference is Mike Green. Ultimately, I think AZ will trade back.

I would say ILB, S, CB are the ones that I would hate.

I would be disappointed with OG if we don't at least move back and grab extra picks.

I would also be disappointed with WR as I'm not completely sold there is a WR that fits for the Cardinals with the 16th overall pick.

For me to be happy I want one of the following in this order:

DT
Trade Back
OT
OG
Edge

I just watched an interview with Booker & he’s super intelligent and well spoken. With his stock having plummeted from a slow 40, I could see the Cardinals trading down into the 20’s, pick up additional draft capital, and then drafting Booker. Unless someone drops to us that checks off all of Monte’s boxes, I don’t see us picking at 16.

given the proven uncertainty in the draft -- "hate" probably means you are taking this all wayyyyyy too seriously

players that would make me think "I hope Monti knows what he is doing":

Shemar Stewart. Wary about the "all the tools, none of the production" kind of prospect

Jihaad Campbell. PTSD from Kiems off the ball lb obsession. I keep reading: "Anticipation is still a tick slow for where the ball is going" and it sets off alarm bells.

Jahade Baron. The Cards need a true outside No. 1 corner, not a "this guy is so versatile"

Tyler Booker. #16 is too high, even for an outstanding guard prospect. Ditto Gray Zabel.

im out on a first round wr or te at 16 - idc who they are - no qb or rb obviously - if it's offense it better be offensive line

no safeties lol
I agree on TE unless Warren somehow falls to us. Then you try not to trip and fall as you run to the podium with the pick.

i thought 16 was too high for booker too - but if the tackles are gone... cincinnati and seattle pick right after us - i don't think booker slides past all 3 teams

I forgot to add I would hate if we drafted Tyler Booker at #16 overall.

First of all I would hate drafting an OG that early. Second I would rather have Jackson in the 1st if the Cardinals did decide to draft a guard in the first. Preferably later in the first.
Tate Ratledge, aka the Mullet, will be there in the 2nd round. He fits this system perfectly with his agility and speed. I will take pressure off of Fro. His time this year was the 20th fastest for an OG ever at the combine and the fastest this year. I am willing this pick!!

As amazing, and beastly as he his, THIS would make me mad. TE is actually a strength considering we just extended Trey, Tip's expected progression and Higgins reliability. Add this to Guard, RB, WR and QB for me.

Does this topic glean any insight into the personality of the author of this post? :)

I agree with no og, db,te,ilb, or rb at 16. I liked Karma's wording.

I'm kind of in a wait and see mode this year. There's nobody in the mix that I'd hate at 16, well maybe Gray Zabel. Don't want an OG from the Dakotas based off a good senior bowl week. I'm not big on Jalon Walker either. He gives me the Isaiah Simmons vibe, even though I loved the Simmons pick at the time.

I think you just look at everyone available at 16, outside of QB and then evaluate where they would rank on the current depth chart. If they wouldn't be 1 or 2, then you pass on them.

Edit to correct ..haha

Not at all a fan of taking Josh Simmons at #16. Patella Tendon injuries are really bad. Basically, we would be taking him as a redshirt. I don’t believe for a second that he will be ready for camp as his representation is claiming. Being ready for camp after an injury like that means lot’s of “work on the side” while the rest of the team is actually practicing. If this guy was the next Jonathon Ogden, then sure take the risk, but he is not. Just my opinion.

I noticed a few mocks have us taking Banks.

A BPA bridge too far IMO. Few OCs in the league are creative enough to make this work. Total boom or bust in terms of improving the offense.

The prospect is great tho.

Nah, slot him into the offense and watch as defenses fall all over themselves trying to figure out if they should shut down Warren, McBride, key on the passing game at all, try to shut down the run, then pee themselves when Kyler takes off on a naked boot.

It is exactly why I didn't add TE to my list. If Warren falls, snatch him up and then we should love our receiving options of MHJ, McBride, and Warren.
