I will echo that and take it a step further. I liked their picks of defensive lineman Rasheem Green in the third round and offensive tackle Jamarco Jones in the fifth, but other than that I was surprised with all their other picks. To me, the problem with how Seattle drafts is that they think they are smarter than everyone else. They select players that probably no one would have thought of taking at those spots, and they obviously think they can develop those prospects better than anyone else. You can go back and look at their draft history. As I recall, it has been that way every year that John Schneider has been their general manager, and it has not been a success this far.
I want to throw the Chiefs, the Raiders, the Rams and the Niners in the mix as well. It’s a bit of the same thing as the Seahawks. These teams don’t do it every year, though.

I really think the Steelers saw that T Edmunds was still on the board and ran to the podium. I read a thousand mock drafts and big boards, and he wasn't in top 32 of any of them

The thing about the Browns not selecting Chubb at #4 is that it changed subsequent selections, setting up the opportunity for the Cardinals to move up and select Rosen!
If the Browns had made the "expected" selection and taken Chubb, then it is very likely that Denver entertains and accepts a trade down offer, with probably Rosen or Josh Allen being the selection at #5 by the team moving up. And it is not likely that the Cardinals would have been the team who made the move up to #5.
By selecting Ward and not Chubb, the Browns enabled the Cardinals to draft Josh Rosen at #10!

the hags needed a feature back. Penny is the closest one to David Johnson IMO... I think thats why they jumped on him. Oline made more sense for them but facing DJ twice a year has to have influenced that pick. I was really hoping we were going to get Penny....in the third, lol
Yes, you are right, Gimpy, but I don’t agree with it. Of course, there has been some picks like Tyrann Mathieu, Logan Thomas, Markus Golden, Brandon Williams and a few others where I have thought it was much too early to select them, but every team does that sometimes. That’s just a matter of them scouting much better and more thorough than any of us, and because of that have a much better understanding of the draft prospect than the rest of us. However, most of Keim’s selections has been at spots where I thought the players would go, or where the media projected the player to be selected. In other words, Keim has only reached after players very few times, and sometimes it has worked, sometimes it has not. I don’t understand why that should be criticized.
Seattle, however, does it with multiple draft selections every year.

By the way, Browns feel they have two exceptional young DEs. Garrett and that Ogbah kid who is supposed to be really good with great potential. They didn't see the need to have him sitting on the bench. Having such a great need at CB and being in a spot to pick the #1 CB in the draft, seems more reasonable when one knows their DE situation. Ideally, they could have traded back a couple spots, but the couple teams right behind them weren't in the QB market I suppose. It appears they may have made the correct pick as far as improving their team in the best way.
Only thing I have regarding the pick is that CBs could have easily been had with either of their high 2nd round picks. I personally would have looked at another position besides CB or DE. One of the 2 high rated LB may have been an alternative, or my favorite, trading back for the ND OT, McGlinchey.
I think they filled their needs properly. QB. CB. RB. WR. OT, LB, and depth on DL. Some just would have done it in a different order. Myself, I would have gone QB, OT, CB, WR, RB, and end with LB and DL. If they would have made the trade for the Bills 12 & 22 picks they could have gotten the Georgia OT/OG Wynn and then grabbed Hughes at CB, followed by Chubb at RB and Sutton at WR. But what the hell do I know. It's just fun to speculate I guess.

That doesn't sound as surprising then, especially after learning today how badly the Pats wanted him a few picks later.

There was a report out there that a team called Seattle AFTER drafting Penny wondering if he were available.
The Patriots grabbing Sony Michel was a surprise, caused a stir...considering their line run blocks fairly well...not great but at least average...Michel could make a huge difference for them... they dont need defensive players, they are just gonna outscore everybody, lol

I really liked Penny in 2nd 3rd range 27 big question mark for me, they liked him alot took a chance I guess if it pans out who cares when a guy is drafted. Davenport I think was on our radar if we stayed at 15 would have fit a need for us and position was very weak in this draft I wouldn't have been upset adding him giving up a 1st to move up when you have an old QB seemed sgortsighted. Couple years from now we will see I guess. The overall biggest surprise was how the talent fell off the cliff mid 3rd round I wasn't expecting teams to reach until mid 4th bottom fell out early
this draft had some nice top tier talent but was weak over all. except WR....lots of decent WR's but not really any great ones

You know, for those saying Ward over Chubb was surprising, c'mon. Is it so surprising that the Browns would crap the bed on draft day?
New Information: Analyst Chris Simms is now saying, that had Chubb been the Browns pick at #4, a deal was already agreed upon for Denver to trade with the Cardinals; AND that the Cardinals pick at #5 in this scenario was going to be Josh Allen. (See below video at 16:07 min in.)

In Seattle's defense (God I hate saying that), I think they look for character attributes a lot in the players they are drafting. And I'm not talking about choir boys, I'm talking about tough guy, bully types is what they value.
