What will be better, Playstation 3 or Xbox 2?

I was wondering if either one would be worth buying?

Both will be good because they will have a number of new features including:

1) Larger CPUs and graphics processing capabilities
2) Wireless controllers
3) More support for high definition formats
4) Internal hard drives and network adapters

In the end, it will be like the jump from PS1 to PS2, same basic system, but greater processing power. Each system will steal the best features from the other system so they will probably merge closer together.

If you are a computer guy, the GPUs in these system are so outdated at this point compared to the latest graphics cards you can guy from nVidia and ATI for the computer. Both systems are in need of technology upgrades.

In the end, buy a system based on the available game content for that platform.

The new systems are going to be truely amazing and a big jump from playstaion 1 to 2 comparably... I would have to go with the playstation III on this one but they both should be amazing and finally beat out computers when they come out...

Maybe for a short time. By the time consoles hit the market typically they have been passed by PCs already.

Computers will always be faster than consoles. But if you are talking 1/10th the price who cares if it is slower than a PC?

As for PS3 vs. XBOX2, I will wait untill some more details come out about them. As it was, XBOX was a later release than PS2 so it has always had better hardware.

I will always be a PS man. It really doesn't matter if ones graphics are better than the others, They will be close, and I prefer the PS controller.

Rumor is the PS3 will be more powerful than the Xbox 2, but I'm honestly so happy with the Xbox, I couldn't see Microsoft messing up the Xbox 2. Besides, Ninja Gaiden 2 will be released on the Xbox 2, so it's almost like a guarantee that I'll be buying that system :)

I used to have the original playstation and then I bought a PC in 98 and never used it anymore. I'm tempted to try out a console again but to be honest, I get enough from my PC to pass on the console market. There are certain games I would like to play that I can't on the PC though, like NCAA football. But it just isn't enough to push me towards a console.

Plus, its easy to play on the computer when my wife is able to watch TV. If I was playing on a console, that would mean my wife would be without the TV to hold her at bay. Thats a dangerous situation!

That all being said, I would probably pick the ps3 simply because I like the controller more.

Computer gameplay is superior, if you get the right controllers, etc. Plus you can play some games in 1900x1200 resolution which I am doing. Also, Xbox is basically built off a PC platform.

Only issue with computer game playing is that not all titles are available for computer. Most xBox titles are, but most PS2 and GameCube are not.

I don't think I have ever even tried to play over a 1024 x 768 resolution. I am sure I could in some of the games I have but I just haven't pushed it that far.

If it comes down to a controller, I used to use a gravis game pad pro, since it was so similar to the playstation controllers, and had a very cheap price point I could afford!

I'm now using a Logitech Dual Action analog since it has the dual sticks for Madden.

But I don't think it is easy to beat the keyboard mouse combo for playing fps games. I think it beats any controller hands down!

I definitely agree on the titles availability problem. The only one that really bugs me though is that NCAA football hasn't been available on the PC for years.

PCs are definitely the best gaming machines you can buy. The only real problem is there are not even close to the same volume of games on the PC as there are on the consoles. The Xbox and PS2 have thousands of games for them.

I have over 4000 games on MAME alone, and over 700 ROMS for NES.

But I guess those don't count.

Not like I have ever played more than 30 of them anyhow.

Wow. That was close to the lamest geek thing I think I have ever written.

It's ok dude. I'll one-up your geekyness... I have an Apple ][e emulator with cheesy games on it, and I have the original ninja turtles arcade game, 4 player on it's own stand-alone app.

I agree computers are the best..although it looks like Playstation and Xbox are forcing technology to move forward faster. Some of the preview movies for some of the games that will be coming out are amazing. Also the sales for console games has doubled over the last couple yrs while computer games have remained stagnant. I do wish everything could be on the computer though. I also like more adult games with more depth of play than lots of xbox and playstation games have. Like for instance they had Baldur's Gate for the computer which was great and then they turned it into a hack and slash fest with little content for the xbox/playstation.

The only thing I wonder is have the computer games progress really slowed down because of consoles? It seems like the games that are going to come out with the consoles beat out anything that is on normal computers. Why is that?
