What will you guys do with the ATL pick?

I think the suns should get rid of that pick while it still has value. The Hawks could easily flop, but right now they're looking like a team that could actually make the playoffs in the weak east.

What will we do? Probably nothing, unless Steve Kerr is a member of this board in secret.

What will the Suns do with it? Its very hard to say, they have a brand new GM, who we don't know what his philosophy will be. If they could move it with Banks, Id assume they would, but Banks contract is so bad, I doubt anyone will go for that. I'm all for trading it if it brings us that missing piece, but right now, Im not even sure what that missing piece is. The Suns seem to have about 3 equal needs depending on whom you ask: another big, a 3 point shooter, a back up PG for Nash. Is there one of those out there? I don't know, its too early to tell.

I'd be perfectly happy with the Suns holding onto the pick though and either trying to draft a PF of the Kurt Thomas mold to play alongside Amare for years, a Marion replacement, or Nash's replacement.

The Atlanta pick will end up being pick #9, the Suns lucky number.

i think that pick will be traded with either Banks or Diaw

let's hope this is the case. knowing the suns, they will wind up selling it anyway so.... we really ought to draft some young guys and prepare somewhat for the future. i'm all for this "win now" thing but i don't want us to become the next miami.

and just think, not only did we give two of those away last summer, but we gave away 3 first round picks with 'em. Hurrah for the almighty dollar at the expense of team needs!

LOL you must be the GM who made the crazy trade.

I would like to thank you guys for giving us JJ for Diaw and maybe the 17th pick in the draft. LOL

We, as of today, have the 8th best record in the NBA.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

Actually you have the 12th best record in the NBA right now. Try sorting by winning percentage next time. We still have the 4th best despite losing a player like Joe Johnson.
And we're not going to win an NBA championship with this nucleus probably because we lost a player like Joe Johnson for nothing among other reasons.

Joe Johnson let ego and greed become more important to him than being on a winning team. He'd rather play for a losing team and be "The Man" than win a championship. The Suns offers to him were more than reasonable for the production he had done up to that point. His 1st extension offer was for 6 yrs $45 million when he had only had 1/2 of a good season and before that he was wildly inconsistent (maybe 1 good game out of 4). The next year they offer him 6yrs $60 million and that's not good enough either. He turned his back on the team that trained him for 4 yrs and made him the star he is today because he didn't want to be a 2nd or 3rd option on a championship team.

Dude, why you keep saying "Champioship team?" The Hawks have more than you guys as an organization. I'm not bragin but you guys have none. So, stop with the "Championship team." Joe have not shown greed here in the ATL. He puts in a lot of work. He leads the league in minutes played. He leads our team in assists. He plays great defense. That is not the make of a person who is full of greed. Maybe he knew your team is going no where with the 75% of your players who do not play defense.:p

I'm going to hope to god you aren't saying the hawks have a better shot at a championship than we do. that would be the funniest thing i've heard in some time. we're going nowhere? aren't we still waiting for atlanta to develop into an 8th seed type of team in the EAST? you have more than us as an organization? how many MVP's does your entire roster hold?? oh that's right, none. any first team all nba players? nope, none of those either. let's try this one.... how many of your players have made it anywhere at all in the playoffs? oh yeah 1 player who did it with the SUNS (and was injured actually). our players don't play D? 3 of our 5 starters are good defenders. that would mean 60% play D, and 40% don't. seems your 75% was an exaggeration.JJ may lead your team in assists, but he only averages 5 (count them, 5) assists per game.Nash leads our team (and the league) with 12.2 a game, what are you trying to say here? leading the league in minutes played does not make you unselfish, sorry. Kobe plays plenty of minutes, is he unselfish? Marion plays a lot of minutes, is he unselfish for that? no, of course not.Kobe plays great defense, probably leads his team in assists (i don't have the stats in front of me), and plays lots of minutes so surely he must not be greedy at all, right? NOT.so before you come in here talking about our team, worry about your own.

He is saying the hawks have more championships in history. I always found that argument pretty asinine personally. Anything farther back than 6-7 years shouldnt be used as bragging rights in an "Oh yeah well we have" argument, imo.

yeah, lakers fans like to use that one a lot from back in the magic days. that's far too long ago to count imo.

Edit: By the way, the hawks have only won one championship and that was back in 1958 (before they were in atlanta) so...

Joe left a team that was on the verge of winning a championship each of the last 3 years. If he was still on the Suns then they'd probably have one right now. If he didn't bust his eye socket in the playoffs then we might've had one in his last year in Phx (Stackhouse gets some blame for that though). If JJ had still be on the Suns the 1st season after he left then I think we would've gotten past Dallas in the WCF and blown away Miami in the finals (lost to Dallas mainly to a Raja Bell calf injury), although Boris had his 1 good 1/2 season that year.

Meanwhile your Hawks have been bottom feeders for how many consecutive years now? Stacking up early 1st rd pick after early 1st rd pick.......some of those had to pan out eventually. We would've had your pick last year if you didn't tank the season and get lucky with the ping pong balls.

In JJ's defense Sarver gave him the ol' "go out there and have a good season and we'll after speech" instead of coughing up an additional $1 million per season.

JJ did just that and upped his value.

Since then the Suns failed to all of the TE, used part to acquire James Jones (and later trade him and a 1st rounder for cash), traded away one of the acquired picks, and it wouldn't be very shocking for the Suns to trade away Atl's pick this season and Boris Diaw.

Leaving the Suns without one remnant of that trade on the team.

Except what we get back in trade.

Haha, people will only admit to being Hawks fans when their team is above .500 so that's why you haven't heard from them in the last 5-10 years.

I've been a a diehard Hawks (and Cardinals) fan since the 60's so I'm definitely not coming out of the closet. Sure, it's easy to make noise now that we're winning but that's not the point. We're playing good ball and have a decent shot at the playoffs - if everyone stays healthy. As for the draft pick - who knows where it will be but if I were you I'd hold off on the Mayo jersey:)

That pick is worthless. Not only does atlanta not suck, they actually look pretty damn good.

In retrospect, that night of the draft lottery was even worse than the night they left the bench. If we get number 4, kevin garnett is a sun right now. Instead we'll end up getting absolutely nothing out of it.

Every team has a shot at the playoffs in the weak East. There's only 3 good teams in the whole damn conference (Boston, Orlando & Detroit). Hell, Atlanta is 2 games over .500 and has a 4 seed right now so that says a whole lot. Enjoy it while you can, but it's pretty obvious that Suns fans want to see your team fail so you're not going to get a great response going to Suns boards to brag about your team having the 4th best record in the east and 12th best overall in the league.

What makes JJ a champion for something Hawks won couple 20 years ago.
