For some reason that just bugs the crap outta me.

I'll go to hockey. It seems like after about 98 out of 100 goals an announcer will say:

"That was a HUGE goal for the ____________."

Apparently, every single score in hockey is "really big" or "huge".

THe one that gets me is after a 2-2 or 3-2 count and 1 or 2 foul balls they say " This guy is having a great at bat". I always thought a great at bat was a hit, move the runners, HR or a hard hit ball somewhere. A great at bat is just not getting up there or is it?

I don't know. If you can make the pitcher work you're doing pretty well, especially considering that hitting .300 is doing pretty well.
If you're making a closer throw ten pitches, the next couple of batters are going to be that much better for it.
