College basketball is ready to take center stage with March Madness right around the corner. The 68-team NCAA Tournament field will be revealed Sunday, March 16, and will culminate with the national championship game on April 7 in San Antonio.

The 2025 NCAA men's basketball tournament will include 68 teams with games starting Tuesday, March 18, in Dayton, Ohio, and concluding with the national championship game Monday, April 7, at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

The participating teams are revealed Sunday, March 16. Champions of 31 conference tournaments and 37 at-large teams make the March Madness bracket.

Who won the March Madness final?​


Connecticut has won the past two national championships. The last team to win three straight was UCLA, which won seven in a row from 1967-73.

Why is it called March Madness?​


"March Madness" related to basketball debuted in 1939 in Illinois. The phrase became popular in the 1980s during NCAA Tournament TV broadcasts. The NCAA has since trademarked the phrase and use it to promote the tournament.
