Anyone have any info on this? I heard some where that he is scheduled to be back next week Tuesday against Oklahoma City. I am not sue though. I think he can be spark to the sinking team.

Anyone else think he can be the Barbosa of the past?? (6th man of the year)

It was obvious the cyst was affecting his jumper. Give him a couple weeks to get in game shape and he'll be a scorer off the bench just like the old Barbosa.

We have given him like 2 months right? If you include the month he missed earlier in the season.

Barbosa has fallen off the face of the earth. I feel kind of bad for him that the suns braught in Richardson because Barbosa was ready for a starting job...

Not as a SG, he'll never be fit for that. He's either a PG or a really good sixth man who can come off the bench and provide scoring punch.

What are you talking about? LB is not a PG. He came in the league as a PG and they moved him to a 2 guard because he was much better there. He plays PG sometimes because the suns had not competent backup for nash and he was the only guy who wouldnt turn the ball over.

Hes a good 6th man but that doesnt mean hes not a good starter. He started many games for the suns and he does well...You obviously ahve no idea what your talking about:mulli:

Don't expect him back anytime soon. Last night they were saying how he tried to shoot a 3 foot shot and airballed it. No power in wrist.

You do know that yesterday was the FIRST day he even tried dribbling the ball, right?

Actually I didn't know that, wasn't really following any Barbosa news but I heard that in the broadcast last night.

You don't need power in your wrist to get a three-footer to the rim. That sounds more like an anecdote to illustrate how rusty he is.

Actually you do need power unless you shot put it. I've had wrist injuries playing ball and its hard to take even a layup with a wrist injury.

Ignoring the bolded part (clearly I'm a basketball novice), Barbosa just doesn't have the size to defend the shooting guards in this league, plain and simple.

He could be a classic scoring point guard, someone who would get somewhere between 17-22 points a game and probably 7 or so assists. You're saying he can't be Tony Parker? No, he's not Nash, but point guards come in all different types depending on the players around them.

In a van...down by the river.
Barbosa could certainly start at the 2. Put a PG next to him who can defend and it's doable.
Ray Allen is 6'5" on a good day while Barbs is somewhere between 6'3"-6'4".
If you coach Barbs to move his feet and defend he'd be just fine there IMO.....you've got to match up with him on the other end.
To claim that Barbs could never start as a 2 and have success is just a case of ignorance from watching him locked into the same role over the course of his career due to the veteran talent around him(Nash,Bell,JRich,Hill) and the manner in which he was coached and coddled early on.

Eddie House comes to mind as a guy who cannot be a fulltime starter at the 2.
Dragic/Barbs could be an interesting young combo....unfortunately we may never know.

Leandro Barbosa has been given full medical clearance however he will need some practice time before he can start thinking about playing. See link below to Paul Coro's article dated 3-1-10 from azcentral.

Barbosa was given a full medical clearance Monday, allowing him to use Monday's pregame time to take his first perimeter shots since he underwent surgery Jan. 26 to remove a cyst from his right wrist. There is no timetable for Barbosa's return
to game action, especially with the Suns not having any practices this week because they are in a five-day, four-game stretch.

Barbosa said his expectation was that the Suns would use next week's five consecutive off days to prepare him for a return, but he said he might be able to get in some two-on-two or three-on-three work this week with the Suns' younger players.

We are playing SO well without him. I hope the coaching staff recognizes this because he is a defensive liability and he is a ball hog.

BENCH HIM!

So where are the minutes gonna come from for Barbosa to play? We've usually been playing a 9 man rotation so any minutes outside of those have very difficult to come by.

I agree the Suns have some nice chemistry going, however, it never hurts to have another talented player on the roster in case of injury. I do not know where LB will get his minutes without disrupting the flow of the team. Maybe the Suns give LB some of Nash's minutes (I know LB is not a PG) but he can play certain parts of the role. It would be great to have a fresh Steve Nash come playoff time. In any regard, I think this is the last full season for JRich or LB in a Suns uniform because of the LT.

Just a note. JRich is really playing well. I'd hate to see him leave.

What we've seen recently is our 2nd unit always has a starter playing with them, namely JRich or Grant Hill. What I think we'll see is Barbosa in that spot instead.

that will be a shame as either of those guys are calming influences on a young bunch, as opposed to Barbs who's still locked into out of control DA-Ball.

i'd let him rest the rest of the season and then see what i could get in a trade for him in the off-season.
