Lets face it DG is a good talent evaluator and an awful motivator and sideline coach. So lets fire him the day after the draft so he can earn as much of that $2.5M he will be paid next year.

We wouldn't be able to get any free agents, since they would all know that Denny is going to get the boot.

Many of the free agents Denny has brought in have not panned out. I like his draft picks except for the Arrington pick.

Cue Russ for a rebuttal :) .

Yeah he's actually missed on several FA pickups, Ross, Huff, Macklin(he hates him so I call that a miss). Threw too much money at Okeafor when he could have had Fisher or Burgess for much less. Chased Hartwell when we MIGHT have been able to get Antonio Pierce(signed for much less).

What you thought I was going to say something about JJ?

I still say it's impossible to know, you can find about 5 threads today where if you do a blanket cut and replace Edge with JJ, you'll have all of last years threads on why JJ sucks, too hesitant, protecting himself, doesn't hit the hole hard enough etc. I knew Edge wouldn't be great here with this OL but even I didn't expect him to be worse YPC wise than JJ was last year.

Here's the scary thing, if you subtract out all the runs of 0 yards, and negative yards by Edge this year, he's still averaging just over 4 YPC! You do that for JJ last year and IIRC it was over 5 YPC. I'm not arguing JJ is good, just pointing out how disappointing Edge has been, even when he has a gaping hole he can't get 10 yards(as rare as those holes are I admit). JJ has improved as a receiver of late, I still think he tends to alternate good and bad games which bugs me, and I'm still mad at him about that stupid spike in the Bears game, and I'd still take Marshawn Lynch in a heartbeat over JJ, but I think this year is proving JJ wasn't the problem last year. He's not special, probably never will be, but behind a real NFL OL, he can gain yardage.

Arrington is a better RB than James. Its in the numbers. And James was nto shabby. I think JJ is a star.

Even I don't agree with that, if JJ had the number of carries that Edge does this year he'd be injured, or he'd have fumbled a lot more than Edge has because Edge is just getting pummeled. That said I think he'd probably have a higher YPC average. For example Edge had a 9 yard run SUnday through a GAPING hole that JJ probably gets 20 + on. Edge got dragged down by Schweigert, it actually happened twice in the game and both times Edge got 9 and got taken down by Schweigert. He was playing near the LOS on both runs and simply ran down Edge from behind(on an angle) when Edge burst through the LOS. Both safeties were near the LOS on that play, on the 2nd one the CB helped on the tackle and really he and the other CB were the last guys between Edge and the endzone. But he couldn't outrun the safety, I am pretty sure on both those runs JJ is in the secondary with only 2 CB's having a shot at him.

This is bizarro world last season I was always arguing with SWD about JJ because he hated him, now he's calling him a star and I'm still disagreeing?

:D

i forgot about that spike but i have the Sunday Ticket and flip around to all the games and i had to see at least 4 or 5 times a guy spiked the ball and not once was a penalty called. Hell, Steve Smith does it just about after every catch.

it happened in the same game, Brown threw the ball into the stands after his TD and Tillman spiked it after his. Apparently they didn't call it for the spike, they called it for something he said to the 2nd Bears player that tripped him.

In the Raiders game one of the Raiders got a penalty for doing the throat slash deal. I have no idea what JJ said but it must have been pretty bad. Dumb though he'd had his best game of the year, one week after being demoted behind Shipp on the RB depth chart, and he does something stupid.

Yepo I noticed the Ball in the Stands throw and I thought that was supposed to be a penalty as well

Someone else posted it's a fine but not a penalty to throw it into the stands.
