From another thread:

Shane, we ran the ball 13 times in the game. Most of those in the first half when we ran 11 times (IIRC). In the second half, with a 21 point lead, we didn't run the ball and went 3 and out, 3 and out, 6 and out, 3 and out, 3 and out. Couple that with the defensive scheme to give up everything in the underneath and you see 10, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 13, 10, TD type drives. That does tire out a defense.

Both the offensive playcalling in the second half, and the decision to allow everything short to be available by the DC, were "play not to lose" football. It's like we went into prevent O and D after the half. Inexcusable.

We were lucky to win that game, and I am not remotely ok with it. DRC saved face with a big play, which is what CBs do, but overall the entire second half on both sides of the ball were embarassing, save about 4 plays each on O (Boldin catch, TH and BW runs, and a great play that Urban just shortarmed that would have been 6) and D (DRC's pick six, and 2-1, 3-1, 4-1 stops. Otherwise, that was one of the worst second halves of football I've seen both called and executed.

With that said, it wouldn't have been CLOSE if the offense had been able to sustain one or two freaking drives. They turtled, and completely fell apart.

Beanie SHould get the bulk of carries. But on 3rd down it should def be Hightower as well as at the GL. Without question. Timmy is a far beter pass catcher and money at the GL.

This this this this this. With Beanie getting the 1st and 2nd downs, you can't just think (oh, run) when he comes in. Then when TH comes in you think (oh, short yardage...he can pound it, catch it, pass block.) WTF is this common fan knowledge but the staff acts like it's forbidden knowledge?

I would say the absolutely terrible play of the O Line, and their complete inability to open up a hole is the biggest culprit. Why call run plays when we are just going to get stuffed anyways?

Why call run plays when all you call are slow developing DRAW plays with one of the slowest handing off QBs in the league, with an OL that isn't great at run blocking or pass blocking for long. Really, put that all together and your computer spits out "run a DRAW!!!" ??? Get a new computer.
