From another thread:
Shane, we ran the ball 13 times in the game. Most of those in the first half when we ran 11 times (IIRC). In the second half, with a 21 point lead, we didn't run the ball and went 3 and out, 3 and out, 6 and out, 3 and out, 3 and out. Couple that with the defensive scheme to give up everything in the underneath and you see 10, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 13, 10, TD type drives. That does tire out a defense.
Both the offensive playcalling in the second half, and the decision to allow everything short to be available by the DC, were "play not to lose" football. It's like we went into prevent O and D after the half. Inexcusable.
We were lucky to win that game, and I am not remotely ok with it. DRC saved face with a big play, which is what CBs do, but overall the entire second half on both sides of the ball were embarassing, save about 4 plays each on O (Boldin catch, TH and BW runs, and a great play that Urban just shortarmed that would have been 6) and D (DRC's pick six, and 2-1, 3-1, 4-1 stops. Otherwise, that was one of the worst second halves of football I've seen both called and executed.
With that said, it wouldn't have been CLOSE if the offense had been able to sustain one or two freaking drives. They turtled, and completely fell apart.
