The last two years we were 6-0 and 4-2 inside our division. This year, we are 1-4. Flip that to 4-1, we're sitting at 7-7 and talking about how we could clinch the division on Christmas day against Dallas. The saddest part is, we got our butts kicked in all 4 losses. It's not like the Tampa or Minny games that we gave away.

As bad as our division is, how did we manage to play so poorly against them? Is it coaching? Attitude?

Dropping a backup QB that you drafted in the top 10 and kept for THREE years to learn behind one of the best only to cut him weeks before taking over.

The tragedy is that at least 2 good years were wasted to train a young QB behind one of the greats.

The FO sucks and our HC had a meltdown and cut our QB without an adequate replacement.

Our HC thought BD was a good enough DC and thinks he's a good enough OC.

Fail.

tragedy is a bit much, but a huge lost opportunity. The Cards kept Brian St Pierre instead of a young guy.

That being said, there are no guarantees the young guy would have been any good -- for every Matt Flynn ('08 7th round) there are a bunch picks like Erik Ainge ('08 6th round) or Andre Woodson ('08 6th round)

I dont know Rugby-

I dont think you go from 10-6 on a harder schedule to 4-12 on a much easier one due to leadership and coaching as primary factors.

Talent has to be #1 by a long shot. Not to say that 2 and 3 arent in the mix --

The nfl is a QB driven league. The Cards went from having a top 5 Qb to a bottom 3. QB isn't the only issue, but it started there.

If you can point to a thread were it's discussed why we played so poorly against our own division, I'll gladly read it.

Teams in your own division know you the best so they exploit the weaknesses better and the Cards had at least a couple weaknesses this year. Plus, there's the extra motivation of beating up on the 2 time defending division champs. On the bright side, the Cards were 1-0 in the division and in 1st place at one time.

The season was lost the day the Cards decided to move Levi Brown to LT.

43 sacks. High% of the run plays for 2 yards or less.

Summed up succinctly yesterday when Hightower and Wells combined for 27 yards on 14 carries with Skelator being sacked 3 times. Versus the worst team in the NFL.
