He threw

for

6

Touchdowns

.....
See above. Similar to our own QB, who many seem to be down about, if you don't turn the ball over nearly as much as you throw TDs, you don't need to throw them in a desperate effort to win.

During the broadcast they talked about how Goff was viewed as a bust until McVay came in...

I get it.

6 TDs though, yea, very hard pressed for me to get mad about that.

Welcome to the real world Patrick. They have game film now
:biglaugh:

Yeah he threw more TDs in 2 games than we’ve had all year. Lol

He’s also on a legit SB contender because he’s their QB, not Alex Smith...how soon we forget & knock how good this kid is.

Tyreek Hill is the X-Factor on that team. He scares defenses silly and for good reason. Desean Jackson was doing the same thing for a while. Mahomes is doing great for essentially a rookie but his numbers are deceiving IMO. Don't think he'll keep it up much less when he loses a card or two out of the stacked deck he's been playing with.

6 TD's isn't really what it used to be. From 1970 when the leagues merged until 1999, there were 6 games where a QB passed for 6+ TD. From 2000 (when the rules started to heavily favor the offense) until now, there have been 21. From about 1 every 5 years to well over 1 per year. Nick Foles, Matt Flynn and Ryan Fitzpatrick have all done it relatively recently too.

And even though he had 6 TD's against a terrible defense, he had 5 turnovers that led to 21 points for the Rams. So, does he learn from it and not be so cavalier with the ball or does the book go out on him and he starts to struggle?

I wonder if he'll be chastised for the phantom sack he took? Heard footsteps and curled up before anyone touched him.

I think Mahomes would be ruined here. I have noticed that he tends to go backwards instead of stepping up into the pocket and that’s what caused the strip sacks. with our offensive line and play calling under McCoy, he would be benched or injured by now.

He's never seen a defense like the Rams.... This was on the job training, and I bet he comes away with a crapload of insight.

I have to hand it to the kid....He can obviously run (and several times tonight, he would have been better served doing so) But he trusts his arm, and usually....rightfully so.

We would have never gotten him ass McCoy. BA has already said multiple times that had we gotten Mahomes or any other decent young QB that he would’ve stuck around. We would be the chiefs right now but with a terrible special teams is the answer.

I won't anoint anyone as the next great thing until they perform at a fairly high level for at least three straight years. Mahomes looks very impressive right now and is having a fantastic year. I give him all the credit in the world for the season he is having. It doesn't hurt when you have weapons like he has either. Take away Hill and Hunt and suddenly his job is a little harder. Take away Thomas and Kamara from Brees and his job is harder too. The question to ask is this an outlier for Mahomes or can we expect this to be where he will be on a yearly basis. Now don't get me wrong, I don't expect him to put up numbers like this every year, but if Mahomes is that QB then I would expect numbers of at least 70-80 percent of what he is producing now going forward.

This is so bad.

Take away any great player from any team & their job to win becomes harder.

While his numbers are still good, I think we're seeing the league catching onto his game. The first 5 games he had 14 TD/5 turnovers. The last 6 games he's got 23/12. Sure, anyone would still "live" with those numbers but he's gone from averaging 1 turnover per game to averaging 2 turnovers per game.

And we saw tonight that he is susceptible to mistakes when not playing with a huge lead. Two late drive picks while in a position to win tarnishes his sterling year just a little.

His game winning drives against Denver(last & this season) begs to differ.

Well, if you mean the game in Denver, he did get called for intentional grounding on the last drive and Kareem Hunt punched it in to actually win the game. I think he is like Favre and will make some mistakes at the least opportune times. He is also like Favre in that he'll make some plays too but the trend is showing that his turnovers have doubled in the last 6 games. Whether it's indicative of anything we'll have to wait and see.

Bad if Mahomes ends up like Brett Favre.

What a disappointing career that would be.

Scortching hot take from the guy who mourns Bradford and still insists he’s Actually Good

Well, your scorching hot take is talking about me and not the NFL, so....

I don't even know what you think you're pointing out. Repeating what I've already said? Arguing against a point I wasn't making? Have I promised scorching hot takes at some point? May I just speculate and analyze from my armchair like everyone else?

And where have I insisted that Bradford is still good? I believe the last time I posted about him I wondered if he'd ever play again. If you're going to stalk me, at least provide quotes to support your opinion. Why are your panties all in a bunch about me comparing Mahomes to Favre and saying that he's producing well?

Is this a string of haikus? +1 if you attempted, but -2 on form.

How can anybody say one negative thing aboit Mahomes is beyond me. Intelligent, humble, hard working kid with generational arm talent paired with an offensive genius and great skill positonp players. The turnovers happen because he had to be over aggressive. Their defense just couldn't stop the Rams. If the Chiefs had a better than bottom tier defense, Mahomes with that offense would easily win multiple Superbowls. Hence if they improve their defense over the next few years, watch out!

Scoring 40 in Foxborough and 50 in LA and still come up short should tell you everything you need to know.

Sucks that Keim was too shy to pull the trigger. We were picking 13th, and the Chiefs jumped from around 30 to 10 for Mahomes. Only paid one 1st round pick that was very probable to be late again. For sure we could've given the Bills a better deal trading up from 13, probably without sacrifying a future 1st. It hurt me then, and it hurts even more now. We needed a QBOF badly, and I can tell you that BA surely wasn't against drafting a young big arm gunslinger.

I think Rosen will be decent and can carry us to glory. I can easily see the Eli (in his prime) and Matt Ryan comparisons. But Mahomes is already better than those 2 really good QBs have ever been.

I'm going to stop with that last one, because it's so patently hilarious that I'm almost ready to block you so I don't have to see nonsense like this anymore.

And I won't bother reading past the first one. All it says is that if he's healthy he isn't garbage. Which isn't remotely resembling me trying to argue that he's whatever it is you think I'm saying.

So, please do block me if you have that much trouble understanding what I'm writing. I can't help it if you let your imagination run away with you.

I think calling it like it is is just fine. Just because he's having a monstrous season doesn't mean he's above criticism when he makes mistakes. Granted, even with all the turnovers the Chiefs had a chance to win but that doesn't mean those turnovers didn't matter.

Six TD's is a lot of production but five turnovers is a lot of mistakes, wouldn't you say?
