Today's news

Troy Hudson, a surprise name here. Is he still capable of playing? I thought he retired due to injury.

Just my personal opinion, none of above interests me. I'd rather to see Barbosa more at PG instead of inserting any of those into our rotation.

The Suns are just going to run DL players in and hope to get lucky. Then bring in 10 day contract players and hope to get lucky. Then wait for teams to start cutting players before the trading deadline and get really lucky.

:)

I'm for bringing in Dee Brown as the back up point guard, even though he is small for a PG.

I know. I have been looked around at almost every team, but unable to find anything interesting.

I mean, our requirement for the No.2 PG of the Suns is quite high. We need a real playmaker. Most of the names mentioned r score first guards who is too small to play SG. If we think Pargo is acceptable, why not stick to Barbosa? We need him to be microwave type, which means very experienced, because his minutes per game will definitely be under 15. Especially those who might be cut, how could a bench warmer in other teams qualify for Nash's backup job?

The shortlist is really SHORT. I guess we'll just sign some1 really cheap to meet NBA rules of roster size.

It appears LB is currently better than the PGs the Suns have available.

However, I'm coming to look at the backup PG differently... not only as a distributor but as a defender as well. As the Suns defense is so bad, maybe the Suns should focus on a PG that can play a little defense on some of the smaller PGs that tear Phoenix apart. I don't know who that would be right now but didn't Darrrel Armstrong (now 40) used to fit this mode? I don't know if he has anything left in the tank anymore but if he can still play some defense he might help the Suns at least temporarily.

Anyway I think the Suns should be looking at a defensive player at PG that can distribute. I don't remember if Gill can play defense and I've never seen Walker Russell Jr play.

It's hard to make something out of nothing.

Yes, we definitely prefer the backup PG to play decent defence. But, most of the names mentioned r very small and weak, never had any defence game. They score better than pass, and pass better then defend, and their scoring is not good enough to get a job in NBA. Think about it.

Hmm, maybe Smush Parker is an acceptable defender? Has he got over his attitude problem?

I think most of u guys still remember Smush Parker, starting PG for the Lakers for 2 seasons, lost his job in Miami due to off-court trouble and unhappiness with Pat Riley. I remember him to be a decent defender, got a lot of steals.

Had a look at NBDL website, he is doing 18.2ppg, 8.4apg, 5.0ppg, 2.2spg, 37.7% for 3p, but 5 turnovers a gay. Not bad.

Smush would not work with this team, in my opinion. He just doesn't seem capable of running the offense even for the short time he is on the court.

I never really thought Smush was able to run an offense either. At one time he was a decent shooter (I think his averages are down now) and that he was more suited to play SG.

In my opinion, the Suns aren't looking for a player to play. They are looking for player #13.

Partially agree. However they need player #13 to play backup PG. That's why they are doing player workouts today for PG.

But seriously folks......

Obviously we aren't going to find a great player right now. My suspicion is that Porter is putting a lot of time into working with Leandro and it has made a difference, but he's not the entire answer.

I think the idea of using Hill with a backup point guard makes some sense. Leadnro and Hill can run the offense, but they need a guy wo can give them some defense when an opponent gets hot.

From what i heard, Dee Brown is very fast, an above average on ball defender with good attitude in defence. But he is just 6-0. He might be useful against the other small guards, Chris Paul, Nate Robinson, Brooks (the Rockets).

Im fine with Dee Brown. Im fine with anything that helps us distribute and defend and keep Nash's minutes under 35

I have no idea who Brown is, is he capable of running this offense?

Of course he's not ... Nobody on the list is. But we have to sign some1 b4 Wednesday. I guess we'll sign him to 10 days contract and see what he can do.

Is there any news about Pargo?

I'm not sure why everyone is so high on Pargo. I understand he played well enough for the Hornets although I didn't get to watch a lot of that. He has a high basketball IQ? Is it just that Pargo is really the best option out there at the moment, he's the best thing available? About 6.9 points, and 2.1 assists in 18mins of play... Dee Brown 2.0 points and 1.8 assists in 13mins...
Not to mention Pargo is listed as 1 inch taller than Brown. So how can you all be complaining about Brown's hieght, plus he's got 10 pounds on Pargo. Less T/O's and more blocks. Although thats hardly relative. Pargos got 300 plus carreer games while Brown is at 60ish.
