You shouldn't need help deciding who you like. The team whom you enjoy the most supporting should suffice.

Great one Shzm! Very funny!

He could just be like you and follow specific players, then whatever team his favorite player is on, immediately becomes his favorite team! Even if it IS Manchester United ! :biglaugh:

Lols. I do need help because I don't have time to watch a ton of games, and I want to pare it down as much as possible. Plus, it's not like I'm asking which team would make me cooler.

Old man? Now you resort to your consistent retort, name calling! Way to go, you're a bigger man than me.

As for the original concept of this post--watch a few games of a few different teams and you should get a pretty good idea of what you'll like. Unfortunately for you, the majority of the games that are accessible are going to be the big teams, but you might get lucky here or there and see a "lesser" team.

Go Liverpool, the greatest of all Premiership teams, 18 titles, 5 european cups. They have fallen on some hard times recently but are now on more stable grounding. Plus colors just like the Cardinals. If you want to talk about the best supporters look up the Kop on youtube, those are the supporters!

Man City: Don't pick them, their coach is a pansy.
Tottenham: Don't pick them, their coach is a douchebag.
Sunderland: I don't have anything negative to say about them.
Bolton: They're having a good year, you can also follow/root for Stuart Holden of the USMNT

Newcastle: They've had a ton of upsets this year, feature one of the most exciting, young epl players in Andy Carroll.
Blackburn: Don't have anything to say about them.
Stoke City: One of the most physical teams in the EPL, they have a nasty defense and are fun to watch.
Everton: You can follow USMNT GK, Tim Howard in the team he starts for.
Liverpool: The Liverpool fan mentioned why you should like them.
Blackpool: Nothing to say bout them.
Fulham: The had a lot of US fans back when they had McBride+Dempsey. I like them. The non-snooty of the London teams.
Birmingham: Nothing to say.
WBA: Nothing to say.
Wolves: Wolves would be more fun to watch if they were more consistent.
Aston Villa: Tom Hanks' fav team?? lol idk
Wigan Athletic: Nothing to say about em.
West Ham: Talented team, horribly coached. You want to watch bad chemistry on the pitch, this is your team.

Certainly don't pick Wigan. They are a plastic team that don't deserve to be in the Prem. I would say that after Leeds the northeast teams have very good support. Real football fans on the whole.

As somebody else said though, you need to pick a team that you like - don't let us pick them for you. Once you have a team though you CANNOT CHANGE! It is against the football fans law.

On Wigan, you are not wrong mate...same for teams like Blackburn, Stoke, Bolton, Fulham etc

Leeds, as much as i cant stand them they do share the passion that we do.

Fox Soccer Channel had a love affair with Fulham around 2002 with Bocanegra and McBride. Now, Dempsey has become the emotional leader of Craven Cottage and watching him grow has been great.

Fulham is full of under-sized (or giant bean pole Haangeland) scrappers that do not play dirty. Fulham is definately the ugly sister of London Premership Clubs... but sometimes that girl is the most fun to date. ;)

They seem to like CONCACAF players more than most teams. Which is a plus bc you can see some familiar faces when you're watching Mexico win the Gold Cup again :)

Please not Stoke. Wigan have more tradition than them. Half their squad are Sunderland cast-offs and they play a hideous style of football.

Can't stand Stoke fans, either.

Good man, not going mainstream and picking yearly favorites. Now, you might be in for a ton of pain but, being a Cards fan, you're used to it.

Know how I picked my team? I was stationed in Germany just before World Cup 1998. A buddy that was discharged stateside left me his Playstation with 2 games--Doom and FIFA Soccer. I naturally checked out the Premiership first, because it's in England and--whatdya know--they had a team with the same name as my home town. Yep, I was raised in New Castle, PA. So I played with them.

Then, when the World Cup frenzy hit, when I was in German, traveling through France and Spain, and finally was able to watch it when I was in Bosnia, I was caught up in soccer fever. I died on the pitch with my country as Iran defeated us 2-1 to crush our hopes and send us spiraling out. I found out Brazil were big favorites, and I rooted on underdog Croatia and the never-gets-to-win Netherlands.

So, in choosing a team, I naturally chose Newcastle United. The hatred of Sunderland just kind of came with the territory.

Watching my teams suck is commonplace, so I'm ok there. I'm using FIFA 11 to help me make my choice. Let's me see the kits, stadiums, hear the chants and get an overall knowledge of the players on the team.

Stoke is out, Fulham, Blackburn, Blackpool and Sunderland all seem like teams I can get behind. Newcastle seems fun too.

Err, what? Is this the same Stoke that is one of the oldest clubs in the World? The same Stoke that was one of the founding 12 clubs of the English Football league? The same stoke that had the great Stanley Matthews play for them?

Don't get me wrong, I don't care for Stoke and they haven't won a load of trophies but they do have tradition.

Wigan don't.

Yeah, Stoke have been around a long time, you're right. I guess I just meant recent history. They were out of the top flight for 22 years (1986-2008) and I'm hopeful they will be relegated again.

I have no problem with teams in the lower divisions. That is what makes football great, the support outside of the top league. The reason I hate Wigan (and other plastic teams) is because of their 'fans' and complete lack of passion.

I also dislike Stoke because of, like you mentioned, their style of football.

Same here although if you want to 'get into' English football i could understanding want to take a team that will be covered more to begin with.

Re the lower leagues, there are some teams down there that destroy some premier league clubs in terms of history and support.
