Here is a list of the top WR's in the league.
"Could contend" and "are" are two very differnet things. Yes, The Cards WRs "could contend" for, and I may even go as far to say "will contend" for one of the top spots. But they have too much to prove to the league right now to be considered top ten. A lot could go wrong.

I'd say the exact same thing about Detroit's and Houston's WRs.

I agree that there are maybe 7-8 teams that have better WR's than the Cardinals. However after that it's a crap shoot.

Boldin is one of the best WR's in the league. Hence the reason he was the only rookie to make the Pro-Bowl. Not many teams can say that they have one of those on there team. He alone demands respect and instantly elivates the Cardinal WR corp.

Then you add the best player in the 2004 draft on many peoples draft boards to this group. Not to mention another former first round pick from the year before. Then throw in a coach that has had tons of sucess with young WRs and loves to throw the ball.

Again, I say it's not that far fetched that someone would rank the Cardinals WR's as the 9 or 10 best WR corp in the league.

I might buy it if you had a proven QB throwing to them, but McCown just adds another question mark to the equation that is already filled with too many unknowns.

I'm not saying the Cards WRs can't be top-ten, or top-five or even the best corps. But they're all too young to say that about now, IMO.

So does the Colts with Marvin Harrison
Yeah and that goes to my original point 1 great player on a unit brings up the whole units rating. You don't need 2 great DEs or 2 great WRs - don't get me wrong if you get a shot at another great DE (like say Ogunlye or potentially great WR like Fitz grab em) 1 great player makes the unit over all better.

I think a team with a Berry at 1 end and someone average is better then a team with Okeafor and Wistrom at 2 ends. I think a team with Moss or Harrison at 1 WR and then some lesser players at the other WR spot is better then a team with 2 WRs like say Santana Moss and Chrebet. You need stars on your team even 1 can upgrade a unit.

That is the problem opposite of Berry isnt an average player not a single DE on this roster has proven they are even average yet, there is potential but no one has proven anything yet.

And Berry isnt a great player. He is a good player but he is not great. One year of double digit sacks not being double teamed becuase Pryce was the one being double teamed does not make you great, it makes you good. Berry cannot be Isolated and still be expected to perform at double digit sacks status. Simple as that.

As for one players ability to catapult there unit to the top 10 that player has to be elite, top of there class of which Moss and Harrison are, they are the exceptions not the rule. Berry is not in that category of elite.

Now dont take this as a knock on Berry becuase I think he is a great signing and is a good player. But it doesnt take care of the fact that the other DE's stink so far.
