If we had the right pieces around them...

Timm Rosenbach or Chris Chandler

Rosenbach drafted in 89' is one of two QB's in AZ Cards' history to start all 16 games in 1 season (90'). He threw 17 TD's and had a 73 QB Rating. Unfortunately he played in a division with Lawrence Taylor and Reggie White. He was sacked a record 43 times in 1 season. Injuries and the pitiful OL around him ended his career shortly but he showed promise at times.

Chandler from 91-93 started 17 games for Arizona and threw 19 TD's with a QB rating of 73 as well. In those 17 career games as a Cardinal he was sacked 40 times. Chandler then went on to multiple Pro-Bowls with Atlanta.

During these guys tenures our best WR were guys like Randall Hill/Ricky Proehl and RB's like Johnny Johnson and Ronald Hill. We had some talented QB's in the 90's and they had ZERO chance given their supporting cast!

In 37 combined starts they were SACKED a combined 92 times! We should've had a franchise QB and playoff games at SDS!!!

Rosie was never the same, mentally, after his big knee injury...He played scared in the pocket. He had great promise, though. It was a shame he could never put it all together, after getting hurt. He quit football, alltogether.

I think the running back was Ronald Moore and neither ever had a chance in the NFC East.

Remember that game in Philly where Bugel ran Moore and Chandler into the line 7 times from the 1 yard line and we couldn't score? Lost the game 7-3.

And to answer the question, Rosenbach could have been. His first full season as a starter, he had no fear. Even in the pre-season games before he got hurt he was doing great. Then, it was all over.

For some reason I have an obsession with the 90's Cards and Sun Devil Stadium. I should probably see someone.

Rosie was the one.....he had it all...unfortunately the knee injury took the heart right out of him......it says a lot about your offensive line when your starting quarterback quits football to go be a rodeo cowboy....because bulls are safer....

I remember when our punter Tom Tupa stepped up at QB. I was drunk and arguing with other fans- it was the right thing to do- I forget who he replaced- But the tragedy was not paying or resigning Boomer esiason after he put 522 yards up in a game.

Boomer Esiason should have been loved, paid and finished his career here- He was by far the best QB we had in the 90's.

To be fair, that was garbage play calling. They ought to have figured after being stuffed for the 4th time, that up the middle isnt going to work.

Try a sweep for crying out loud. Do we not have receivers? Throw a screen play in there, mix it up a bit.

Amazingly, Chandler played much of the later part of that season with a broken pinky finger on this throwing hand. Look to the picture of him being tackled by SF players and you will see his hand in a wrap with a splint on the pinky. Hard to see, but it is there. He was tough as nails.

I vote Tom Tupa!!!

But seriously, this is a hard question because Chandler went on to have a decent career that took the Falcons to the Super Bowl, but Rosenbach never was able to came back from injuries. So, by default we will never know what Rosenbach was, while we got a good idea of what Chandler was, so I would have to vote for Chandler.

Tupa was drafted as a QB, but didn't pan out, so switched to punting.

Steve Beuerlein. Threw for 4,436 yards and 36 Touchdowns for Carolina in 1999. But Psycho Buddy ran him off after the Cards ran off Chandler because they'd signed Steve from Dallas.

Chandler has to hold the all time record for playing for different teams. 8 in 17 years in the NFL. Most of them terrible teams. Chandler was one unlucky guy.

The 78 sacks came in 1997. Lomas Brown, Rob Selby, Mike Devlin, Anthony Redmon and James Dexter. The forerunners of the Duckjake screen name solidified by Lester "duck jake" Holmes.

Jake was sacked 52 times that year. Only 17 fewer than in his FOUR years in Denver.

Wow our FO was horrible. I feel for the players and coaches back then.

George Boone. :bang:

Bill Bidwill really never had a clue how to build a winning organization. Cronyism was the order of the day and ridiculous hiring and firing of coaches.

Thank goodness it looks like Michael knows better. We'll see.
