The players were sloppy all preseason with penalties. At the time we could have been proactive and addressed the issues.

Instead we let it slide and now we are being reactive.

No successful management team works well on that principle.

It is about time WHIZ starts accepting the fact that He is over his head with calling all of the Plays while being the head coach.

Plus he will not lift Kurt even when Kurt plays bad or gets hurt. Very bad Coaching...!!!

I think I agree with you. The play calling was horrendous and predictable. It was the same plays over and over. There were no TH type play calls to be had. TH would come up with weird formations or call unconventional type plays to kick start this offense.

This is not the first time Whiz has called an offense and looked lost. Let's also not forget that the Steelers playbook looks nothing like our playbook. The Steelers playback is more conventional then most. Whiz appears to be over his head in this offense if the preseason and this game is any indication.

They bet the house on him with that contract. There wasn't a ton of criticism when they signed him. No one pays a guy that much money and benches him after preseason or one regular season game.

I didn't say anything about benching Warner I said he needs to be called out by the coaching staff for his poor play...unless they believe his psyche is so fragile it will cause him to further melt down.

Most Head Coaches don't call out their QB's play. Reid with McNabb, Fox with Jake D. and the list goes on. QB's are simply dealt with differently in the NFL then any other position. Can't platoon them or bench them for a game or two or throw them under the bus or.....

Where was the no huddle?

I know where. Whiz cant get plays called in fast enough to do such a thing. We are lucky when we dont get 3-4 delay of game calls. Rememebr 2007?

First things first, Wiz didnt call any quick hit stuff because Boldin could barely run.

Second, Wiz says this at least three times a year since he has been here and no one has ever been benched after he said it.

Sando is exactly right. We are not benching Gandy, Wilson, Dockett or Warner, that is for certian. He might not let Wilson blitz anymore for a while though and give Rolle those blitzes instead though.

I could see Spach becoming the incative this week with Bryd taking his place though. Spach has been a penalty machine the last few weeks or so. But like Sando said benching Spach isnt exactly going to cause fear in the hearts of the other offenders.

Side note - Speaking of Bryd, since the WR's were not healthy why wasnt Byrd on the active list instead of Spach. Why not let the better recieving TE play. It wasnt like we were using Spach for a lot of run blocking.

Spach even had a penalty too.

Vegas, baby, yeah!
He can afford to bench anyone, ANYONE.

Team discipline is more important than any one game, either you mean what you say or you're just full of hot air and Whis is not full of hot air.

I took it to mean this was the last warning, if they do it again they won't play and I believe him.

Case in point - the 9ers. Singletary came in with guns blazing - realizing that some times you have to take a step back in order to take a leap forward, and that the team comes first, not the individual.

Say what you want about the 9ers yesterday - they played hard.
