First off this was the first time I got to actually listen to Ken talk and I must say that I came away extremely excited for next season. Right off the bat I could tell that Ken is very intelligent and has a plan of what he wants to do with this team.

He discussed the hiring of his assistant coaches and gave props to the Bidwills for allowing him to get the coaches he needed. He was extremely happy that the Bidwills kept to their word and allowed him to assemble what he thinks is an incredible staff.

Ken has worked with his new OC Todd Haley before and thinks he will be a very good coach. For the time being Ken will call all of the offensive plays. As he becomes more comfortable with Todd he will eventually give him a chance to call the plays. It could be this year or a few down the road.

They are currently looking at 2-3 coaches for the QB coach. He said that they will probably make a decision on who it will be in the next 2-3 days. He didn't mention any names. Says they are taking their time to make sure the person that they select is the best fit for this team and staff.

MJ asked Ken why it took so long to make a decision on Clancy as the DC. Ken said that he wanted to make sure he got a good answer from Clancy as to why he thought the defense took a step backwards last year. Clancy asnwered all the questions that Ken asked him. Ken then went around and asked other in the know the same questions and their answers all matched what Clancy had said. This made Ken very comfortable in retaining Clancy as the DC. He said that Clancy is a great young coach and is happy to have him on his staff.

They asked Ken what his plans were for Free Agency:

Ken replied that the only position they really need to look at was WR. Which of course got a good laugh. He said that he hopes to really add a lot of quality depth during free agency. He said that they have started evaluating talent on the team this week and obviously will identify a few must have needs that will need to be addressed. However he really feels that it's important to improve the depth on this team so that there is competition at every position. He feels that this will make us a better team.

Wow, a coach that gives a straightforward answer. No smokescreens, no empty rhetoric. I like it.

They went on to talk about the Offensive line. MJ brought up Starks name and told Ken that Starks said earlier this week he would love to play for Ken. Ken talked about how Starks coming out of Florida slipped in the draft and they landed him in the third round. He feels that Starks would be a good addition here.

They also talked about Oliver Ross being a bust for the most part. Ken says he feels that Ross was really hampered by injuries the last two years and believes he will turn things around under Grimm.

Leonard Davis was then brought up by Ken. He said that he was very impressed with the way Leonard played the last 6 weeks of the season when the Cardinals were offically out of the play-offs. He said Leonard showed a lot of dicipline and pride. Leonard is coming back to AZ in a week to meet with Ken and his staff. Ken believes that Leonard would like to stay in AZ.

They also talked about the offense a little and MJ asked about scripted plays. Ken says he only scripts about the first 10 plays of the game. He uses these only on 1st and 2nd down. He has a sperate list he uses for 3rd down plays. That way if you are 3rd and long or 3rd and inches you can call a play that has a chance of succeeding.

They moved on to talk about the up coming SB. Ken was asked what his thoughts on the game were. Ken believes that both defenses are playing well and that the game will come down to the QBs. Which ever QB has a a better game will be the team that wins.

They asked him what he would do on special teams with Hester returning kicks. Ken said that it would depend on the game situation. If his players were all jacked up he would want to give them an opertunity to make a play on special teams. However he also said that you have to be smart about it and if he felt they were at a critical part of the game that he would probably squib kick it to keep it out of Hester's hands.

I wonder if he'll actually pay attention to how much time is left on the clock at the end of each half?

Yep, when they;re out of it and he's a FA. He showed 'pride' for a big pay day. Why couldn't he play that way when it counts and play like that ALL YEAR?

I also heard the interview, nice recap by MadCardDisease. They also asked about Larry Fitzgerald stating that Denny was his Godfather and he was disappointed in his firing. KW perfectly understood and was not concerned. Said he met him when he was attending Pittsburgh Univeristy and already then had a reputation for a strong work ethic. Jokingly said that he wll be spending so much time with him and the offense that Fitz will be tired of seeing him.

I don't think there is any doubt... Big Leonard is LAZY!!! It's a shame because even being lazy, Davis is still a better than average lineman. Just think what he could do if truly motivated!

Didn't you get the bulliten? Everything that went wrong for the last 3 seasons was Denny Green's fault.

Thanks MadCard!

I like that Whis didnt say that John Navarro was the next Brett Favre.

Fitz needs to toughen up, Buttercup. I dont think anyone, in their right mind, could say Denny did a good enough job here to save his job.

im glad you brought that up cause i have been very concerned over how fitz is handling everything. ihave heard so many different things you dont know what to think. Some have said he is fine and others have told me that they are already looking to trade him for h. ward (which is a poor trade for us imo). i am glad to hear that wizz is excited about coaching him. Thank you
