It's bad enough that Cardinals rookie RB J.J. Arrington often has looked clueless on the field this season. Making matters worse, we hear, is the second-round pick's apparent lack of hunger. Our sources tell us Arrington is surprisingly nonchalant, especially compared with fellow RB Marcel Shipp, who couldn't be more driven.

Funny, I actually think the complete opposite. I think JJ is looking less and less 'clueless' every week.

I'd agree with that. JJ looks like a deer in the headlights.

Somebody is leaking this stuff on purpose.

Must be a desperate attempt to motivate him.

I have an idea.

Play the kid the entire game, see if he let's his game do the talking.

I am all about loving heart, but that's for movies like Rudy, give me Moss eating a twinkie scoring a td yawning walking backwards over a driven guy getting tackled 3 feet past the line of scrimmage any day.

Great idea.

But something is not right in Tempe. Guys getting really ticked off during the games, players getting cut for poor effort, rumors of guys being lazy. Horrible offense.

Has anybody taken that trophy back yet?

Well my opinion is that talking positive trash like DG does has this effect, it works for a while, then comes the back it up or shut it up phase.

The offense is eating at DG, he prides himself on it and if it dosen't get fixed fast he's going to start lashing out to save his own butt.

Rowen is going to get the first brunt of it then other guys on offense and it will run downhill from there.

Lindsey obviously has photos of DG so he's safe.

Shipp had a terrible game......so I think that assesment is way off base.

That has nothing to do with attitude and what this assesment is about.

Where was Arringtons break away speed? He was caught from behind on the longest run of his career.

Now that we agree on.

Arrington ran 4.43 at the combine. Do you think he bribed the guys with the stop watches or something?

I saw Arrington get caught from behind at Cal. He is fast, but he isn't Bennett fast.

Only in Arizona is that considered high praise.

The 40 times at the combine were guaranteed authentic and accurate by KPMG and Arthur Andersen.

Neither is just about anybody else in the NFL Bennett qualified for the 2000 Olympic Trials but didn't go. The only possible NFL player I know of who can run with Bennett is Sultan McCullough, ex USC RB who beat Bennett in a semifinal heat in the NCAA outdoor championships. This offseason Bennett ran a wind aided 9.9 100 meters which was one of the 10 fastest times in the World.

Arrington is fast but he's not close to Bennett fast, anybody expecting that is going to be disappointed.

FYI Sultan McCullough is on the Browns practice squad so if we want a RB as fast as Bennett we can sign him. McCullough's career best per USC's site is 10.17 as a freshman in the 100 meters.

Seems like once a rumor hits the internet everyone else picks it up and just slightly tweaks it to make it seem new. A few weeks ago this would have been believable but Pasch and Wolfley have been saying for weeks the staff keeps telling them how arrington has noticeably turned it up in practice and appears to have figured it out. As for hungry, he's not a vocal guy, it's not his nature, he's not going to flex his arms and scream at his offensive line like Shipp does, doesn't mean he's not hungry, just means he's a quiet guy. Let's get real if Arrington did what Shipp did people would be ripping him for showing up his teammates, he hasn't been around long enough or accomplished enough to get away with that, Shipp has.

No offense but this is a surprise? Don't we recall a few weeks ago when Green singled out Shipp at his presser as being "my kind of guy, I have a soft spot for the undrafted guys." Why do you think he did that, remember the opinion on this board was Green HATES Shipp. Why? Because Green was about to replace JJ with Shipp and he wanted to make a statement about it to try and light a fire under JJ.

anybody that thinks this stuff is coincidence isn't paying attention to Green. Since that time we've had the Green loves Shipp comments, the rumors we want Bennett(which Graves publicly denied), the PFT report that Arrington is soft, the PFW report that Green said Arrington is a bust, and now the Insider report that Arrington lacks fire.

And since all this started Arrington has been playing better every week. I'd say Green's plan is working.

Russ, Russ, Russ...really?

I'm sorry to laugh, but this is really out there.

"All signs point to Arrington not preforming well, so Green's plan is working perfectly."

I think the rumors started after the Seattle game when JJ had 5 carries for 9 yards.

Against SF he had the 13 yard run where McCown trying to help him with a block tripped him or he would have gone longer. To date that was his best run of his career. the next week 4 carries 14 yards against Carolina, not much but his best game to date. and then 6 carries for 30 yards including a 32 yard run. I repeat, since the rumors started, JJ is playing better every week.

I don't think this stuff coming out is coincidence, Green apparently felt JJ wasn't playing hard enough, and started leaking it to various people to light a fire under him.

JJ is not a good RB yet but he's clearly a much better RB than he was a few weeks ago?

??

For the past three games Arrington has been improving. Running with more confidence, looking more aware and then he busts a big run. How is he not improving?

Green was just on with Bickley and MJ. They specifically asked him if he was disappointed with JJ. Green jumped right in and said how can I be disappointed with JJ when he doesn't have any holes to run through. Green said when the O-Line start opening holes for JJ, that JJ has the ability to turn 5 yard gains into 25 to 30 yard ones.

Green also mentioned the same thing for Shipp. Basically that Shipps poor rushing numbers is a reflection of the poor run blocking by the offensive line.

Why is this called "whispers" from around the NFL? Like people need to keep it a secret that JJ sucks? :biglaugh:

Until he gets some blocking and loses his tentativeness, he's not going to do well. It may take a while with this line.

Then why won't Green replace Lindsay?? That blocking scheme (or lack thereof) is embarassing. Guys look like they have no clue who to block, nor any communication with other members of the line. It's beyond ridiculous now.

Something is finally right in Tempe. In the past the players and coaches would accept that they were 1-4 and wouldn't care. All while gladly accepting their fat checks each week of the season until they could move onto another team.
