I havent noticed too many posting about the White Stripes, however, I just find their music amazing..... Who else are fans of theirs?

I just came across online this link of their new single "Blue Orchid", so if you havent heard of the track yet (dont know if it's been played on the radio since I haven't listened to much radio in awhile) you must click on that link...It's amazing on how much their sound evolves throughout each and every album....

Here's their official site and another valuable link of theirs....

Jack and Meg White are both amazing musicians....They just continue the long-standing tradition of hard-rocking bands to come out of Detroit (and its surrounding suburbs).....

Their new album "Get Behind Me Satan" is due out in stores on 6/7 and I would love to pick-up a copy......

DEVIL WORSHIP!

THE WHITE STRIPES premiered songs from their new album ’GET BEHIND ME SATAN’ with a show in Mexico last night (May 11).

The Detroit duo have started their world tour in South America, playing the first show at the Monterrey Fundidora Amphitheatre de Coca Cola.

According to fans at the gig, the band played forthcoming single ’Blue Orchid’ as well as new songs ’Little Ghost’’, ’The Nurse’, ’The Denial Twist’ and ’Passive Manipulation’, which featured Meg on vocals.

One fan at the show told NME.COM: “The venue is similar to an amphitheater and it was crammed. Jack started the show by saying. “Hermanos y Hermanas”, which means brothers and sisters, and played mandolin and marimba on two songs.”

The group also played classics including ’Seven Nation Army’, ’Hotel Yorba’ and ’Fell In Love With A Girl’.

Another fan added: “Meg in particular was very good, and she was wearing a rose in her hair.”

The group’s only confirmed UK date so far is a headline appearance at June’s Glastonbury Festival.

The rest of the tour visits:

* Guadalajara Foro Alterno (13)
* Mexico City Sports Palace (14)
* Guatemala City Hotel Grand Tikal Future (18)
* Panama City Club Next (20)
* Bogata Palacio de los Desportes (21)
* Santiago Victor Jara Arena (24)
* Misiones (secret location) (26)
* Buenos Aires Luna Park (28)
* Manuas Teatro Amazones Opera House (June 1)
* Rio de Janeiro Clara Hall (3)
* San Paulo Credit Card Hall (4)

Are you going to any of the shows? Send your reviews, pictures and thoughts to [email protected] and tell us all about one of the most eagerly awaited tours of 2005.

The White Stripes release new LP ’Get Behind Me Satan’ on June 6, which will be preceded by the single ’Blue Orchid’ on May 30.

Jack White “This Album Was Cursed!”

An interview in which Meg White interogates her band mate Jack about the pair’s new record could be revealing, fascinating or at least just a little intriguing. However, in a new chat previewing ‘Get Behind Me Satan’ the pair are up to their old tricks leading fans up every garden path available to them. Quite, quite barmy…

Released on June 6, the album ‘Get Behind Me Satan’ is one of the most hotly anticipated of the year, despite the fact that it didn’t even exist prior to March 2005. Written and recorded swiftly, security around copies of the duo’s new record is high and rumours of its contents are escalating wildly.

Was it written entirely on Marimba? Does Jack’s electrifying blues guitar even feature on the record? Surely, an interview such as this (originally published by their label XL) could be an illuminating read. Not likely…

With a whole lot of ‘purring’ (?), insinuations about Jack’s sexuality and whole lot of ‘Shut up’
-ing, this may be the pair’s most baffling interview yet:

Meg White interviews Jack White about ‘Get Behind Me Satan’

Meg: "Jack are these songs about you?"
Jack: "No Meg, they're about you."
M: "I wish"
J: "No you don't. You know I don't write about myself or my friends, let alone my sister."
M: "I thought maybe you made an exception after coming out of the closet."
J: (purrs)

M: "Can you tell me a little bit about the album cover?"
J: "I don't know Meg, can you tell me a little bit about the universe?"
M: "You want to talk quantum physics or quantum mechanics?"
J: "Shut up"

M: "What does 'Blue Orchid' mean to you?"
J: "The same thing pizza means to you."
M: "Jack, why can't you be cool?"
J: "Because you're trying to trick me again!"
M: “Jack the only trick I ever played on you was never tricking you at all."
J: "You're right."

M: "Your voice sounds really high on this record like the old days."
J: "I noticed that too."
M: "Want a cigarette?"
J: "Shut up"

M: "Was this album pleasant for you to make?"
J: "It's always pleasant to work with you Meg"
M: "I know that, but did you enjoy yourself?"
J: "This album was cursed when we started, and then suddenly came around near the end. Then I started to enjoy it, Remember?"
M: "Yeah I remember."

J: "Anything else "you" would like to know?"
M: "Only if you're happy with the record."
J: "Yes I am. I think it's our most dense sounding record yet. Don't you?"
M: "Shut up."

J: "Want to make another one?"
M: "Hmmmmmm ... With you?"
J: (purrs)

The band are expected to announce UK tour dates over the coming weeks, but are playing shows in Mexico, Central America, South America and the Glastonbury Festival over the next two months.

Jack White Marries Model From Stripes' 'Blue Orchid' Video

The White Stripes need to cut it out with all the breaking news emanating from South America.

Less than one week after the band surprised fans by announcing plans for a North American tour while in the wilds of Brazil (see "White Stripes Get Behind Satan With North American Tour") comes an announcement that Stripes frontman Jack White has married model Karen Elson in the Brazilian city of Manaus.

The band's publicist confirmed a posting on WhiteStripes.com, which read, in part: "Karen Elson and Jack White were married yesterday (June 1) on the confluence of three rivers — the Rio Negro, the Solimones and the Amazon ... by a traditional shaman priest on a canoe at the exact point where the three rivers met. ... The ceremony was immediately followed by a blessing by a priest at a Catholic cathedral called Igreja Matric."

White Stripes manager Ian Montone served as White's best man, while Stripes drummer Meg White was Elson's maid of honor. If Elson looks a bit familiar to Stripes fans, well, perhaps they've caught a glimpse of the band's new video, "Blue Orchid," which features Elson as a ghostly apparition in ultra-high heels (see "White Stripes' Jack, In Black, Gets Satanic In 'Orchid' Video").

But as with most things Stripes-related, the news of Jack's nuptials should be taken with a grain of salt. The wedding announcement concludes with the statement that "this is the first marriage for both newlyweds," which isn't true. In 2003 The Detroit Free Press uncovered a 1996 marriage document between Jack and Meg (filed under their real names, John Anthony Gillis and Megan Martha White). They were divorced four years later.

But despite all that, the Stripes' publicist insisted the announcement is true and that White and Elson are now officially married.

White's marriage comes less than a month after former girlfriend actress Renée Zellweger tied the knot with country musician Kenny Chesney in a surprise ceremony on the island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The White Stripes' new album, Get Behind Me Satan, hits stores Tuesday (see "White Stripes Album Preview: Confounding Satan Both Loud And Subtle").

The White Stripes Expand Tour

Rob Kleckner reports:
Not too many artists as big as the White Stripes visit places like Estonia. In fact, according to Pollstar.com, only three concerts are on the horizon for Tallinn, the country's capital: the White Stripes on June 29, Phil Collins on October 16, and Depeche Mode on March 16, 2006. So if you were planning an Estonian concert getaway, you're going to have a lot of time to kill.

In the meantime, the White Stripes are set to play Glastonbury this weekend, before spending a couple of weeks traveling Eastern Europe. After that, Jack and Meg will rest for a few weeks before beginning their North American tour, which begins in San Diego at the end of July with a spot at Street Scene. Then, it's on to a couple weeks' worth of West Coast shows, including a four-night engagement at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre. The tour will then move east with multi-night stops in Minneapolis, Chicago, and Boston.

Curious is the week off between Chicago and Milwaukee. It's only 90 miles. Unless Jack and his new model/wife Karen Elson are planning a honeymoon in beautiful Kenosha, Wisconsin. Or maybe that's why they're headed to Eastern Europe.

WIND-HIT WHITE STRIPES FORCED TO ABANDON GIG

THE WHITE STRIPES were forced to abandon a gig in Greece after strong winds resulted in injury to a crew member.

The duo were playing the Olympic Beach Volleyball Stadium in Athens on their last night of their tour of the country when heavy winds caused the trusses holding the lights to bend, risking collapse of the lighting and the stage itself.

After two attempts to secure the trusses and stage, as well as the resulting injury to a crew member, the band were forced to call a halt to their performance.

A Spokesperson for the band who was at the gig: “It was incredibly windy, and definitely would have been dangerous if the show had continued. The band did the right thing.”

As previously revealed on NME.COM The White Stripes release new single ’My Doorbell’ on August 8. It’s the second track to be lifted from their current album ’Get Behind Me Satan’, following the Top Ten success of ’Blue Orchid’ earlier this year.

Additional tracks across the formats include live versions of ’Screwdriver’ and ’Same Boy You’ve Always Known’, recorded at the Teatro Amazones in Manaus, Brazil.

UK shows are expected before the end of 2005.

The White Stripes are so sick. I have dusted off some mp3s and am amazed by every single one.

Take "The Denial Twist". You have Jack on vocals and piano and Meg on Drums and Maracas (presumably playing the drums with one hand). So simple, but complex at the same time.

I wrote this review last year on "Get Behind Me Satan":

True.. it didnt receive any Grammys (however... awards are overrated anyways), but to me its still among the best 5 albums to released over the past 6 years.....

You definitely must check-out all their albums in their entirety because it's certainly electricfying.....

Gotta love the White Stripes.

Their Jolene Version is better than the original.

My Doorbell and Blue Orchid are right there.

KLL, What do you think of Icky Thump as compared to GBMS? I LOVE the title track. I think its a production wet dream and has that raw stripped down meets HUGE production budget. GBMS was awesome albeit a bit more experimental in sound. This seems to evoke earlier work but like I said, with big money behind it. me likey. A LOT.
