recap when you have time?

Though I am sure it will be: "Blah, blah, blah, generality, blah, blah, blah, Max is our QB...blah, blah, blah, we have to get better, blah, blah, blah..."

Max sucked yesterday because the game plan was too complicated. Thought Max could handle it, but he couldn't. Max remains starter and will simplify the offense going forward.

I wouldn't give up on the kid so fast either because mostly I think it was the weather causing a good deal of the carnage.

Also they for some reason chose to put oodles of DB's on the field even with a rookie QB.

We could of easily still won that game had it not been for the fumbled punt return.

Max looked terrible but he's a rookie, they have days like that, I just want to see how he does the next game at home in better weather.

Excuse me, but in his 8 quarters of play he has No TDs and NO FGs...enough days like that and we will have a new qb and a new head coach.

I support Max getting the start. I hope the scoreless drought will end. We will be at home, where he has already played.

Peyton Manning has zero FG's in his career.

Look I'm not saying he's been acceptable, he's not, but what other QB are we going to go to?

DA looked good on a drive or so then it started to fade into predictable results.

I'm not asking for a ton of games here, his very next game he should bounce back and have a decent game at least or I'm with ya, but we might as well go that far now.

The problem is If you start Max and he sucks again...He is done for GOOD. If you start DA and bring in Max to get comfortable and he does well you can rebuild his confidence. But honestly....Max Hall might be the worst QB I have ever seen. John Navarre(sp?) threw for atleast 1 TD.....I mean 4 out of 16 wouldn't get you a pat on the back in church league.

He's an undrafted FA, that's the deal, you get a shot, you get it done, I'm not saying in game one or two but three games is a heck of a lot more than most other QB's ever get when not drafted.

He's never likely to get more of a shot than he has right now, he better come to terms with that and do something about it if he's ever going to.

A guy like him is literally a dime a dozen, no one drafted him, if it was me I'd calm down and play some football cause there is no tomorrow.

Actually, that was a very nice bounce pass to Levi Brown. Magic Johnson would have loved it.

Steve

It almost seemed like that 'on purpose' fumble Stabler did back in the day. I think the NFL put the rule in about only the guy who fumbled the ball could advance it or something like that

Interesting points Whiz made.

1) The new rule on where the ref stands means the ball is wetter when it rains. It's a valid point, the ref used to stand over the ball shielding it from the rain, now he can't because he's behind the offense, so the ball is exposed to the rain longer before the C gets over the ball. Seems a bit like an excuse but it is true.

2) He thinks several missed FG's this year were due to kickers fearing DRC coming off the edge to block it. Also said he didn't think DRC was offsides on the one he blocked, said "it was hard to see how he was offsides on that one."

Said overall DRC was not happy with how he played but that "he was very close several times and they just made the play."

Wiz is hard headed as hell...DRC was offsides & it wasn't even close. I guess he's still in denial that the 3 QB's we have on the roster are better than ML too. I think we have a bright HC but some of his moves & decisions he has made this year have been puzzling & may ultimately lead to his firing.

I just listened and am not sure how he could not see DRC being offside on the blocked FG. It was not really even that close. Everyone around me in the stands saw it also.

I think the trip to the Super Bowl will keep him around for a while (see Lovie Smith), but he's lost his air of infallibility. Making unorthodox decisions looks great when it works. But when those decisions cause you to have the 32nd ranked offense in the league with little hope in sight, it's time to start questioning. I still think Whis is a great coach, but he needs to admit that he can't do this alone and bring in some quality help. Preferably someone who will disagree with him once in a while.

Yeah, DRC was obviously offsides from my angle behind the Cards bench. And it wasn't that rainy either (maybe it looked worse on TV?) - so no water excuses.

Gotta say the defense in general looked pretty good outside of the first FG drive. And while our kickoff team can make some magical things happen, our punt returns are a complete train wreck.

Portland Oregon these days.
There were 2 offsides on DRC. The first was the one Whiz was questioning - it looked good - meaning he didn't look offsides.

The second was undeniable - DRC was way offside.

BTW, the game highlights they have on NFLnet you can see where Hall got dinged. on the sack by Clemons, he ends up hitting Max helmet to helmet in the back of the head. It wasn't intentional but as they said during the highlights "I wonder if he'll be getting a call from the commish about that hit."

Bingo, Todd Haley needs to be replaced with a clone, not some joke OC by committee. How you go from realizing that you need someone of that caliber where you are paying a guy over a million dollars a year to splitting the duties between two inexperienced playcalling goofballs is beyond me.

This is a situation in which the owner or the GM need to step in and explain to the HC, 'You will be hiring an offensive coordinator. PERIOD!'

Hall got hit so hard he didn't even know where he was. I doubt the fumble was on purpose.

Just like LSH is too small to be an every down back in the NFL so is Max Hall too small to be an every down QB for the Cardinals who haven't protected a QB since the 1970s.

The Cards once allowed only 8 sacks in an entire season. Love to hear Jim Hart talk about it.
