Hide your women and children. Although not a "sexy" pick (ie, Ron English, Danny White), Erickson is a witch.

He'll have ASU playing with swagger, and will undoubtedly land the top Juco recruits from California.

He's a proven D-1 head football coach, who will be firmly in control of the program. As long as he doesn't stray (the bottle, rules, greener pastures), I see no reason why he can't take the Devils to places they haven't seen for a long while. And, on a consistent basis.

Bill Miller has gotten 2 transfers from Florida...
I think 2 washouts from Florida would be a better description considering both did nothing at either stop. Taking guys who couldn't hack it at Florida two years ago with nothing since then doesn't qualify as a pipeline.

Actually, I think the "sexy" pick (if there was one in this search) was Mariucci or Chow. Neither English nor White really fit the label of "sexy hire".

FWIW the rumor according to UCLA fans is that Mariucci might have been the UCLA coach if they hadn't beaten USC and saved Dorrell's job. Now if the Cards keep winning and save DG's job, Mooch may be back at NFL Network
next year whether he wants to or not.

I can't be happier that Mariucci is not with ASU. I have had the fortune of talking to Joey Harrington on many of occasions and he has nothing but bad things to say about him as a person and a coach. If you know Joey at all you know this is not his style at all. He's a real humble low key kind of guy so for him to say the things about him he said really shocked me. I dont want to turn this into a major issue as far as what he said but alls I can say is thank god Mariucci is not here. He very well could have run this progam into the ground.

Mac and CHow: Come on folks, don't be as stupid as Bickley. This would never happen, and I'm glad. McGinnis isn't a good coach, he's a good assistant, but he was a loser when he was w/ the Cardinals. Please, dont say "well Pete Carroll lost in the NFL and has won in college," look its a lot easier to bring USC to prominence than ASU, and we shouldn't try to follow someone elses formula for finding a coach. Furhtermore, why would Norm Chow leave as the OC of an NFL team to come be the OC for a 2nd rate Pac 10 school? Think about it.

Danny White: The man has never coached 11 man football. And, as big of a name as he is in the Valley, I promise you blue chippers in California have never heard of him.

Personally, if Love could go the route she did w/ Sendek I would be elated. If she could find a coach who had success at the mid major level, as well as in a BCS conference, and try to hire him away, that would be ideal. That being said, I don't have anyone in mind that fits that description.

Or, if Ms Love decides to go the route of up and coming coordinator, I'd like to see Ron English. He is Michigans DC and used to coach at ASU.

I think my ideal situation would be: Dennis Erickson as HC (though he'll probably be headed back to Miami) w/ Ron English as DC. Have Erickson keep the seat warm for a few years, use his big name to draw in some recruits and then in 4 or 5 years when he is a bit older, have English take the reins.

:biglaugh: :biglaugh:

Former NFL coaches, whether succesful or not in the league, have a solid reputation for being succesfull at the collegiate level. He's not my first chioce but he blows Neuheisel and Harbaugh out of the water.

Neuheseil IS CORRUPT. Everywhere he goes he leaves in shambles. The freakin office pool, that was nothing. How bout the mess he left in Colorado? The mess he left at Washington? If your asking me, he should never be allowed to coach in college again. He's a major crook and ASU wouldn't even think of talking to him. We're just recovering from major PR nightmares, bringing in Neuheisel is like throwing gas on the fire.

And Harbaugh is laughable. I would like to think ASU is a big enough job to land a better candidate then Harbaugh. He's coaching in a non-scholarship league, not exactly my idea of a coach who will take us to the next level

Looking back is fun!!

Forget Jim Harbaugh. He has padded his record playing Little Sisters of the Poor and Blind 9 times a year, and lost his only game this year against a semi-decent team. There are about 30 coaches in the Football Championship Subdivision that are better coaches than Harbaugh.

Shows how much I know...:mulli: :D:D

If Rodriguez goes to Bama, then Paul JOhnson at WVU would be a natural fit.

I really, really doubt ASU hires either Johnson or Solich. While both guys can obviously coach, their respective offensives do not translate well to BCS conference football and certainly not to ASU. It would take three years at least to get the right players in the system.

Quite a twist this post turned...
