Who do you want to fall through to #33. A legit 1st rounder?

Mine is Kevin Jones.

First teams that might take a RB. Teams that might take a RB I would suggest DAL will take one. So most likely DAL takes one and most likely they take Jackson (or Jones).

Who else might take a RB: DEN maybe? Did DEN trade down to get one of the 2 RBs or someone else a LB or DE (replace Gold or Berry). Who is DEN targetting.

Other possible teams: TEN and PHI.

If only DAL takes a RB. That means K Jones falls through to #33 (or S Jackson if DAL takes K Jones).

It could happen.

Do you have any examples or thoughts on the 1st rounder who falls through to #33. It seems to always happen with at least 1 or 2 players.

With all the holes we have on defence. I would be mighty annoyed if we drafted a RB. But that's just my view.

I'm not much of a draft guru. I just hope one of the better players on 'D' fall to us at 33. Like a really good CB prospect.

If we get Fitz in the 1st, I still think we should take a CB in the 2nd and a DT in the 3rd (If the right talent is there)

Gamble has slipped to 20- 25 and Carroll and Poole are moving up, so I'm hoping Gamble slips to #33.

He won't fall past Dallas. Someone will get JAckson before 20.

Tubbs is the guy I'd like to see fall. Or Vernon Carey. Or Jonathan Vilma.

I don't think the Cards should take Carroll or Gamble (Poole is a close call for me).
I would not be surprised at all if Gamble or Poole or Carroll or Strait were there at #33.
Gamble is more athlete then player and Carroll is fast but not much of a player and Strait is slow. They all worry me a lot. Taking Ratliff in the 3rd seems like a better move to me. Or another guy like Joey Thomas.

Yeah but which is the other team that takes a RB? I had NE pegged as that team but they got Dillon K Jones could fall to #33 because NE got Dillon!

I like Tubbs a lot. I think he actually moved up into Round 1 he was at the top of Round 2 imo before.

Vilma and Carey are two other excellent picks.

IF Mike Williams is not in this draft it really hurts Vilma and Carey dropping through.

Teams that would take a Mike Williams like say NYJ will now take a guy like Vilma or MIN would have taken Mike Williams but now will grab a Carey.

The decision to pull Mike Williams out really hurt the Cards at #33. DAMN the NFL!

Fitz wont be available at 3 so it a moot point. We trade down and take Sean Taylor between 4 and 6 then we draft Derrick Strait at #33!

That would be an ideal draft for this team!

For the team... Or for you? :)

I must admit I am worried about the lack of noise coming out of the Raider camp. Makes me very nervous.

For the team. This teams D has been subpar for far to long. With the addition of those two you would get a game changing safety and a solid #2 CB in Strait who could start right away. Macklin could become the nickel back pushing Hill to the 4th CB which is where he is best suited.

This team would be better off in the long run IMO!

I like the idea of Taylor and Strait. Because we need help on defence.

However, this situation won't go down unless Fitz is off the board at #3.

IMO, I think Macklin would be the #2 corner at the moment behind Starks. I rate him slightly above Hill. Of course, that could of all changed after mini-camps.

Man, I wish Barret was still here. Even for depth. Because our CB core is looking bad without Starks.

Im just not as high on Macklin I think he would be a great nickle back much like Hill but wouldnt want to rely on him as the #2.. I think Strait as a rook would beat him out in training camp. But you can never have to many good CBs so that would be a good thing IMO.

I wonder if Strait has enough speed to play CB in the NFL.

When the offense is going 3 and out and turning over the ball all the time adding a SLOW CB and FS won't make much difference.

Have you watched him play? You must rely on the stopwatch and not with on field production. The guy has game speed. Regardless of what he was clocked at its how he performs on the field.

Did you see the play against LSU where the RB broke free and Strait was a good 6 to 7 yards behind? He caught him with ease.

The offense as it stands right this minute has the capability and talent on it to score points. Especially with the supposed better coaching they will be receiving. Points are nice but a solid D is where championships are won and lost!

Scoring points isnt going to make much difference when your D is consistently giving up long drive after drive for points. Losing 30 to 28 and then again 35 to 30 etc..... may be fun but you know what its still losing no matter how you slice it!

He has "Strait' speed.

Well to honestly answer your question. My pick for who I would want to fall through to #33 and a legit 1st rounder is:

Sean Taylor

I'd like to see Tubbs there. I actually think that with the additions of Macklin and Berry, that an anchor tackle is the biggest need on the team.

Detroit might trade down for Jackson. Pittsburg could take Jackson. Tampa, who've they got? Denver might take Jackson at 17 if no one else has, that leaves Dallas with getting Jones at 22. Like I said Jackson doesn't fall out of the top 20, and Dallas has to take Jones. Unless Dallas trades up for Jackson. Then Jones could fall.

Ben Troupe TE Florida could fall out of the first round and be there at #33. Would the Cards take him?

I don't think it matters,

I think the "G" Men have their draft board set and I'll be there are players on their top "33" list that might rank as low as #50 on some of the "expert" list like USA today or the almighty Mel Kiper. I think we are in for a few "shocks" with our 2nd and 3rd pick. I don't think they will be conventional picks.

Strait.

Interesting observations on either ESPN or NFL Network yesterday about forty-times.

1. Some players run fast in shorts, but slow down when wearing pads. Others don't.

2. Other players run so-so in shorts & track shoes, but faster when on the field with someone chasing them trying to kill them.

3. Some players make quicker decisions in game situations - rendering fast less-decisive players a tad "slower" and slower, very instinctive players a tad "faster."

4. One-tenth of a second is worth roughly a step & a half over forty yards. (I guess that means the difference between a 4.49 to a 4.54 is about a half to three-quarters of a step.

5. What speed can do for a player is to slightly widen his window for error. (i.e. faster players can compensate for some mistakes).

All of which is to say that Derrick Strait has made big plays against big-time opponents in big games. He appears to be one of those guys who "plays faster than he times."
