On Sunday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide officially secured a trip back to the Sweet 16 for the third consecutive season by defeating the Saint Mary's Gaels in the second round of the 2025 men's NCAA Tournament, 80-66.
Moving on to the Sweet 16, Alabama is now set to return to a regional semifinal for what is a third consecutive year, and are now sitting only two wins away from making it back to the Final Four. Before thinking of the Final Four however, Alabama still has to get those two wins, the first of which could come later this week.
Here is a look at who Alabama will now play in the Sweet 16, as well as when and where.
Now in the Sweet 16, Alabama's next opponent in the NCAA Tournament will be the BYU Cougars, who are the No. 6 seed in the East Region. The Cougars are coming off a 91-89 second round upset of No. 3 seeded Wisconsin, which combines with an 80-71 first round win over No. 11 seed VCU to compose BYU's tournament resume so far.

While still days away from the matchup, this is shaping up to be an entertaining matchup between the Crimson Tide and Cougars, both of which are strong offensive teams. As for an early prediction however, I'll go with Alabama in a close one.
