Pac Man Jones! We need a special teams guy who has great speed and add some secondary help.

Since you presumably are an objective non-Cardinal fan, you need to know that Dennis Green stated when he arrived in the desert that he (a) drafts on a "best available player" principle and (b) if you believe his analysis of last year's draft - Fitz followed by Dockett followed by Dansby (all three rated as 1st rounders on Green's board) followed by Stepanovich - he went out and did just that.

If you believe that Dennis means what he says (no easy matter when you're listening to coach-speak before any draft) you'd have to expect him to pick the highest player on his board at #8.

It's a bit early to line all these guys up, but (unless PacMan Jones posts insane workout numbers and Rolle does only average) you'd figure Rolle was the most logical pick. But you never know. Maybe he has Clayton rated higher. Or he surprises everybody by deciding the Ware kid is the second coming of Freeney. Then what does he do?

But I don't think Green will consider anyone that high who isn't a game-changer (i.e. someone whose individual performance could chalk up points). This would rule out Barron (who, incidently, is rumored position-wise to be rated 2nd to Khalid Barnes on some boards anyway).

Alex Smith. This team needs to stop putting band-aids on the QB position. The offense cant produce without a player at that position. Fully one half of this team is shut down without a QB. Any picks or FAs on offense other than a vet caretaker/mentor QB is wasted without first addressing QB in my opinion.

You are right but is Alex Smith the guy? This doesn't look like a good year to be getting a QB and so would Smith be a "need" pick like so many other Cardinal failed first rounders or is he a real talent?

It's a great year to be getting a QB...in the second round.

I'll have the last laugh when the Cardinals draft Frye in the 2nd...or when someone else drafts him and he lights it up.

Hey Stout,
1.It's Lefors, not lafors
2.He is a 4th Rounder at best. Great speed and accuracy, but is 6-1, 200 lbs. and needs to build arm strength.

JGleas-

Rolle is a football player, man. It doesn't matter where he plays as he can make an impact as long as he's on the field. That said, playing him at FS puts him in a better position to make plays in centerfield and gives him loads more opportunity to make an impact blitzing out of the slot or off the edge. He doesn't appear have the same ball skills that Reed and Taylor do but it's hard to tell since people generally aren't throwing to his side of the field. The defense has proven it's versatility and he's likely to be moved around regardless. If we're playing a team with a big, physical WR then make his assignment that guy for the game. Against a team like the Rams where the ball could be going anywhere on a given down why limit your best player to trying to cover Holt when they'll just go to Bruce, Curtis, Looker, Faulk, or Jackson all game. It's just silly to say "this is where this guy plays."

Not to sound belligerent but I was checking out your current mock draft and noticed you had Pac Man at 18? Unless the guy busts out a blistering 4.65 40 there's no way that he falls that far. I'd really probably take him over Rolle except I don't believe he'll still be on the board when the Cards pick.

On that note Josh I would HIGHLY recommend you do some spell checking on your site too, among many you misspelled prediction as predication on the top of your mock draft.

Good call on the name...should've caught that.

As to the round he'll be drafted, under normal circumstances, you'd probably be spot-on. Once he hits the combine and shows off his athletic ability, however, he'll shoot up the boards. I mean, this kid has his mechanics together, and plays like a winner. If Rivers, a kid who ONLY had winning to his name, can shoot up so high, this kid can make the second round.

Stout, Rivers completed over 70% of his passes. That's mind bogling. It's the single most important measure of a QB's chances for success in the NFL.

Rivers, assuming good health, will develop very quickly into a top 5 all-pro QB.

Im not to high on Pac-Man and don't believe any top 10's except the Cards will even think about CB unless two things:
DJ is gone at Browns pick
and
Braylon is gone at Titans pick,
Pac-man is good and has great speed and athletic ability, but he isn't huge and not that great of a tackler. If the NFL brings back the rule of contact after 5 yards which im hearing is likely, then it will go back to a Shut Down CB's game aka Rolle and Miller are better prospects then Pac-man.

That's because PREDICATION IS a word, just not the one you meant to use unless you meant your mock draft to be "proclaiming or preaching."

And if you run McNown through the dictionary you'll find it's an actual QB, just not the one who plays for the Arizona Cardinals.

Seriously, you were right about the spelling of Lefors but I'd think you'd want to take the same care with spelling on your own site, there's spelling errors and other mistakes all over it.

The "rule of contact after 5 yards" is the exact same rule they've had for years, if not decades. It's simply been a point of emphasis since the start of the 2004 season.

PS-- I proclaim Russ is properly preaching "predication" vs. "prediction." Positive, pal.

Ah, right, that's it, then, huh? Well, let's just draft whichever QB has a high completion percentage and we'll be set at QB? Lol It's that important to you because that's what your boy has AND THAT WAS ALL. No arm strength and a bad release to go with it. You're pulling predictions out of nowhere.

It's like a Jets-Steelers game I watched with my father, with Namath calling the game. He says something to the effect of, 'well, the Steelers are leading in the score, in time of possession, and in turnovers...but the Jets are winning the REAL game of field position!!!'

I mean, spin on...I'm not saying necessarily that the kid is not going to be good. I just don't get where you're pulling top 5 in the league soon from. This kid was a nobody until he shot up draft boards late. It happens. Thankfully we didn't draft him.
