The Lions were in a much worse place when Campbell took over than we were. We were one year removed from a playoff appearance. The lions had finished fourth in their division for three straight seasons.
We were absolute trash with absolutely no young cheap assets, a ton of money tied up in void years, a running QB with an ACL tear - who has only played in one offense - that has/had attitude issues under a huge contract, a roster continually cycling at 70% empty offseason after offseason... and we'd been dealing with a fired college head coach from a struggling school as our leader.

Oh, and an owner under significant scrutiny for poorly running the franchise.

Yes, the Lions were in a bad place, but "much worse?" Honestly, we were in almost as bad of shape as we were in 2001-2002.

This might be one of the craziest things you've ever posted considering you have spent all those years saying how much we suck. Now it suits you to trash Monti we were "One year removed from the playoffs"?

This is real clown world stuff.

2018 - Last
2019 - Last
2020 - 3rd (only because Jimmy G did his ACL and Mullins/Beathard played 10 games)
2021 - 2nd
2022 - Last

If not for Jimmy G trying to run we would have been last 4 years out of 5 and the one year we wasn't was due to a smoking hot streak to start the season due to Kyler, falling backwards into the playoffs and then one of the worst playoff performances and defeats of all time.

Some of the Wilson / McBride talk reminds of of the early 00s Cardinals. So desperate for players to root for, guys were inflated based upon small sample sizes, and meaningless production. I am excited for both of these players, and was excited about Wilson post-draft last year. That said, they need to prove in meaningful roles, on a talented roster, and when they are game-planned for in meaningful games.

We couldn't trade for him; it would've blocked our WR room's development lol
If we traded for Stefon Diggs, we wouldn't have had the cap room or draft capital to trade for a Stefon Diggs-type player.

Please try to keep up.

Are there some on here who really want Stefon Diggs on this roster? He performed a vanishing act at the end of last year. No thanks.

Yes. No thanks on a guy who has gotten 1000+ yards receiving and 6+ for each of the past SIX NFL seasons, including one where he lead the league in receptions and yards.

We have Greg Dortch.

None of that is in their control, and they won't get that if we sign guys to take reps off them.

Are there people here that seriously would have traded a 2nd round pick for a 31 year old WR coming off his worst year with his current team?

Please put your hands up.

Teams are moving on from highly paid vet WRs when they pay their QB because they expect their vet QB to elevate young WR's. Bills moving on from Diggs now Allen's contract hits. Chiefs moved on from Tyreek. Chargers moved on both Allen and Williams. Bengals will move on from Higgins.

Yet somehow Kyler is the opposite and must be loaded with vet talent.

WWWWHHHHHAAAATTT?????

The guy has been a top performer for years. I'm guessing you would pass on Justin Jefferson too because he'd need to be signed to an extension.
