"Knock him down, Cody Brown", according to Whiz weighs more than 250 lbs., and that weight should be taken into consideration when evaluating his 40 time. On paper seems like a good pick for a team needing some youth at the OLB position. Will probaly need time to convert to OLB. But seems like a "stand up type of guy". Should be able to play ST.

He was my 2nd round prediction for the Cardinals:

Round 2) Cody Brown OLB UConn

The Cards need to get younger at LB and add some depth. Brown could come in and learn from Berry and Okeafor as he transitions from DE to OLB. Brown had a very solid senior bowl week where his speed and athleticism stood out. He looked natural in the open field and I think he will be able to make the transition to OLB fairly smoothly.

Just spoke with my brother back in CT (who is anything but a Cards fan.) For what it's worth, he says we picked up a STUD in Brown. Great "football" quickness. Always seems to be around the ball when a big play occurs.
Definitely too small for a traditional DE position so it's clear Brown will be an OLB in our 3-4.
He is extremely well-respected by those who have watched him play.
Like I said, my brother does not offer any compliments to the Cards - ever. BUT he really, really likes this pick!

Scouts:

What he brings: Brown lined up at defensive end at UConn but he projects as a hybrid DE/OLB in the NFL. He's going to have some problems setting the edge in that role, though, and we're also concerned about his inconsistent open-field tackling. Though he lacks the explosiveness of an Aaron Maybin or Brian Orakpo, he's still quick enough to turn the corner. He also has the agility to develop a wide variety of pass-rush moves.

How he fits: Brown is a tweener defensive end/outside linebacker who is a top-shelf athlete. He will be able to provide help on third downs with Travis LaBoy as Bertrand Berry continues to age. His immediate impact will be on third down, where he can pin his ears back and rush the passer.

Sound similar to what they wrote about Buster Davis, hope it works out better!

Buster Davis was an undersized LB in college trying to play LB in the pros. Brown is an undersized DE trying to play OLB in pros. Big difference.

Plus this guy is a character guy with high work ethic. Not really any Buster in him at all.

The main thing I had heard about him predraft was he had a great first step. You can't coach a first step, and the video I saw showed that he does have it.

I love the pick.
