Lane Johnson gives me a Tommy Knight vibe -- would be reaching early for the 3rd best player at his position.

We could have had Tony Gonzalez instead of Knight. :(

Even the 'professionals' get it wrong so who knows

Ryan Leaf threw a pretty deep ball too

So did Brett Favre and Peyton Manning

You cant just immediately attach a guy to the worst possible example and say "See!"

Nobody knows. IMO, Geno will be very good.

I thought I would check out how our "bust" did last year:

Kendall Wright 64 catches for 626 yards
Justin Blackmon 64 catches for 856 yards
Alshon Jeffery 24 catches for 367 yards
Stephen Hill 21 catches for 252 yards
TY Hilton 50 catches for 861 yards
Rod Streater 39 catches for 584 yards
Josh Gordon 50 catches for 805 yards
Ryan Broyles 22 catches for 310 yards
AJ Jenkins 0 catches for 0 yards yards
Brian Quick 11 catches for 156 yards
Chris Givens 42 catches for 698 yards
TJ Graham 31 catches for 322 yards
Devier Posey 6 catches for 87 yards
Mohamed Sanu 16 catches for 154 yards
Ruben Randle 19 catches for 298 yards

Micheal Floyd 45 catches for 562

So basically 5th in catches and 7th in yards. All with the worst QB / OLine I have seen in a long time. I wouldn't call him a bust yet.

This. I think some are unhappy because we picked WR and not the OL. Some are unhappy because dude went to Notre Dame. Floyd is first round talent and I'm glad we have him to go with Larry and Andre. I would love to see some Goodwin drafted into the mix :)

The third best reference is a bit misleading. According to Scouts Inc he has a 94 rating, which ranks him as the ninth best prospect in the draft.

If we hadn't drafted him we'd be looking for a Floyd in this draft.

Geno Smith will be the bust.

I see Akili Smith when I watch tape on him

What tape you watching? Becuase that is a horrible comparison, they are completely opposite types of QB's. Geno is far more a pocket passer then Akili ever was. Akili Smith couldn't even get over 58% completion percentage, and he only threw the ball 570 times his whole college career. Geno threw the ball 515 times in just his senior year. His game more resembles Alex smith then it does Akili Smith.

and

Jarvis Jones

I wanted to say Tavon Austin, but despite not being the impact player that people seem to think he will be, I still think he will stick in the league as a 2 or 3 WR since it is such a passing league.

Lane Johnson, Zeke Ansah, Dion Jordan. Crazy to think all 3 could go top 10. The combine hype machine is in full-on overdrive, I don't think it has ever been this bad in past drafts.

I don't think Geno will be picked high enough to really be a huge "bust".

I think it will be Lane Johnson going top 10 as a LT.

Dion Jordan. I just don't get the love for him at all

+1,000,000

TOTAL BUST

I'm seeing a lot of this and I don't get it. What is it that you guys don't like about Dion Jordan's game? His lack of production as a pass rusher was scheme related and he has a package of skills and physical gifts that are pretty much unmatched. Personally, I think he'll be the big stud from this draft when we look back in 20 years. The only thing that concerns me is the rumor that Philly might pass on him if he slides to 4 but I think that's just a smoke screen.

Shariff Floyd, especially if he goes #3 to Oakland. He's a good propsect but nowhere near a top 10 player.
