Isn’t he just kind of too big to be Bond? I mean bond is a physical guy, but historically he’s at his best when he’s a physical underdog and has to rely upon his wits to defeat a superior opponent.

Uh oh... I think I know what's going on here.

Ouchie... that was a movie, Hendy Cavill is not immune to bullets and capable of flight. He probably is capable of punching Ben Affleck 30 yards through the air... but that's neither here nor there.

Haha, Superman bias?

No, I don’t have superhangover. Isn’t he a larger guy? I know Tom cruise is a midget, but Cahill seemed to dwarf him in the last MI.

Have you seen Man From UNCLE? He didn’t seem overly large in that one...

Connery was taller than Cavill and he was a body builder in his youth. He also brought some street cred to the role, having earlier disarmed an angry Johnny Stompanato and sent him packing back to the US. Johnny had followed Lana Turner to England and then to the movie set where he threatened Lana and her co-star with a gun.

Idris would have been great as Bond 20 years ago but unfortunately he is too old for it now. 51 is a bit old to be starting the role since ideally they'd like to get 10-15 years worth of movies.
Exactly this.

The average age of every actor in their first Bond movie is 38.

Connery: 32
Lazenby: 30
Moore: 45
Dalton: 41
Brosnan:42
Craig: 38

An early 30s bond is what I desire.
I'd be fine with a late 20s Bond, and a movie that isn't really afraid to Bond more as a ladies man. They always seem to nail the action stuff.

It sounds like everyone is pretty much in consensus that Idris would be great but too old to start as the next Bond. What do you guys think of him as the villain in the next one? Could maybe even do a 2 movie arc. I'm thinking something along the line of Casino Royal in tone to kick off the next Bond with him as the big baddie.

My big concern with doing this is that he might out shine the next Bond. We probably need to see who that is first. They'd need to pick a really strong hire to not have Idris steal the show.

If they go with rumored Aaron Taylor Johnson, the new Bond era will be DOA, IMO.

I really hope that rumor is false. I liked him in stuff like Kick-ass but I have a lot of trouble seeing him as Bond. Bond has to have a certain charisma to him and I don't see that in Aaron.

I wouldn't have thought so prior to Bullet Train but after seeing him play Tangerine I'd be interested in seeing it happen.

I dunno, I liked him in Bullet Train. I can see him pulling it off.

I think they’re going to go with Richard Madden.

IDK, you need a guy whose narcissistic manner can come off on the screen, like a Connery or Moore. I look for a certain Bravado. Not sure Madden brings that.
