Is this the "bizarro" Cards? At any rate, it's time to revise your preseason strategies. Let's see some ideas.

i spend what's left on chris hope. finish the safety position. there aren't really any remaining fa offensive linemen that intrigue me (okay, i wouldn't mind signing short contracts w/ mawai and/or runyan). this would blow the 10th pick WIDE OPEN. we could hope for vince young to fall to us and get our qb of the future or we could perhaps land vernon davis, thereby giving us a ridiculous amount of wealth in the skill positions. i also wouldn't mind haloti then or one of the OSU LBs. hell, we could do anything with that pick!

OK Now What?

Alright I have been recessitated, now what is our next move? Wright or Allen for CB and Mawae for some nastiness up the middle? What else can we do with the cap room we have left?

as much as i actually thought about this idea, olinemen take SOOOOOO long to develope that it wouldn't help our squad this year. i'd take a flyer on either vince, vernon, haloti, huff, or one of the osu LBs and then take an olineman with every remaining selection.

That is why you sign Mawae and Runyan for a 1-2 year contract.

Let the rookie's learn for a year or 2.

OK make the first rounder - vince, vernon, haloti, huff, LB

And then rounds 2-7 - OL.

Is that better.

Free Agents:

--> Will Allen (CB)
--> Julian Peterson (WLB)
--> Top Offensive Lineman Possible

Draft:

Round 1: Vernon Davis
Round 2: Top OT
Round 3: Top OG

Don't know if we have enough cap to sign Peterson now, but adding him and Allen will help shore up our defense to be one of the tops in the league next year...keep adding offensive line depth and hope that our new line coach can get the line to work together with good chemistry...draft Vernon Davis with the first pick in the draft to continue adding explosive pieces to the offense...hope everyone stays healthy and watch things explode next season. A third wide receiver like Givens would be nice, but shouldn't be a priority over upgrading our defense or our offensive line. If we can't get Peterson in FA, then we should look at Greenway or Hawk if available in the draft...but man, I would love to see Davis in the lineup next year.

It is going to be Wright or McQuarters signed on Monday, maybe both if they have plans for McQuarters as a FS like he has done in the past. Allen is no longer coming to town any more as of right now.

AFter that, I would assume they try and bring in another OL now that Kosier is no longer on thier list of visits for Monday.

And then after that you guess is as good as mine.

Back to reality. Sign an experienced FA OL that has recently been cut like Shields or Mawae to a one year contract with a option on the 2nd year.

I would go BPA at #10 but also strongly consider Winston Justice at that time if he is close to others being considered. Would also draft a couple of more OLs. Realize they are for the future but can start contributing this year.

We do need a KR/PR and another DB. As already mentioned Wright and McQuarters will be here on Monday. Neither will be very expensive.

kevinmawae would be a great fit, a vet center to make the line calls for those youngsters. after that id take a look at hope but not over spend for him.

draft
1) huff if no hope, otherwise bpa qb, davis, hawk maybe even justice
2) best ol (winston, gilles, mangold, latui) unless justice in rd1 then bpa
3) best te (fasano, klopfenstein)
4) whitehurst/jacobs/gradowski

Hawk and Huff will be gone by 10. This pick will be interesting. Denny can now afford to either trade down and draft an OG (Gilles about 15-20 range is pleasant), or draft the QBOF. Davis is also an option at 10.

I like the idea of Kevin Mawae anchoring the interior. I have always been a big fan of the guy.

As for #10 - Micheal Huff, Winston Justice, Vince Young, AJ Hawk could be possibilities.

FAs
- Mawae
- Wright
- Sheilds

Draft
1) V Young or bpa
2) L Pope, TE from Georgia
3) BPA

Mawae and Shields don't have much time left. But for once the Cards may be able to convince a couple of warriors to jump on board for one last shot at greatness.

Boy that sounds weird when talking about the Cards.

Move down, take Justice, move Ross to Left Guard next to Davis. Sign Kevin Mawae.

Davis - Ross - Step - Mawae - Justice

Leckey - Clancy - Brown as backups.

Or.... Draft Huff at 10. Maybe Vernon Davis.

Davis and Edge would really help our redzone offense.

What player or players would you like to top off this Free Agent Class with?

I would like to see the following:

Kevin Mawae OC
R.W. McQuarters CB/PR
Julian Peterson LB (If we still have or can make the cap room for him)
