If Arians retires, who is a guy you would like to see given a chance?

Mine would be Teryl Austin who has done a great job of recent with the Lion's defense and is known as getting the most out of his players and a great communicator... plus he has ties with the Cardinals having coached them once in the secondary

Posted in the BA twitter thread.....

I wanted Shanahan the year we got BA and was blown out of the room by people saying he was inexperienced.

I would love David Shaw of Stanford.

Maybe Mark Dantonio, and an even longer maybe for Kevin Sumlin

Assistants:
Josh McDaniels (Wont come)
Matt Nagy (Been with Andy Reid for years)
Mike Shula (I'm meh about this one)
Keith Butler (Whiz's old buddy)

I think the Rams O-Coord is actually McVay. Kind of a Goodwin/BA relationship.

McVay actually sits down on the bench with his QB when the defense is on the field.

Ditto and if he does he'll be a hot commodity. Would the Cards want to get in a potential bidding war for him?

Any Philly assistants worth a look? Usually hot teams' assistants garner a bit of attention.

Tough question.

Do you go old school or new school ? Or in other words, do you invest into the next generation of what the game of football will be going to, or stay with what has been slowing dying off ?

Both can work, no doubt, just a matter of what an organization get accomplish year to year these days.

I am actually leaning toward going new school. Chip Kelly-esk offenses that players are being brought up in, from the time they are in PeeWee Football till leaving college. I theory it would lessen the steep learning curves that 1/2 the positions in the NFL are now seeing, for example, offensive line, quarterback, and linebacker.

Anyone know what Arians makes? Shaw is north of 5.5 per year if I remember correctly. That seems steep to me.

Burt Macklin. He would get to the bottom of the drama in the locker room, no doubt.

a 4 year run is a good run, right? would you want the next 4 years to be winning seasons? bring in harbaugh, he'll expire after 4-5 years but we'll have fun during that time, guarantee it

Here's a thought -

- Jim Harbaugh.

He's wearing out his welcome in Ann Arbor by not beating OSU or Michigan St. May want to come back to the big leagues.

he would consider it for the opportunity to spank the niners twice a year I am sure.

dude gets results as a HC, that cannot be argued... but god I would hate for that jackass to be our coach.....every game we won would have an asterisk

He's one of those guys you love if he's on your side, and can't stand if he opposes you. Lots of guys in the NFL are jackasses. A few of them win.

Here's who would be on my list:
1) David Shaw-would bring toughness, smart discipline offense & defense to the team. My #1 target & has been for several years now! It's gonna probably take a huge contract & some power in the organization to get him out of Stanford.

2) Haley-smart & no BS coach. Coached & ran very good offenses when he had talent. Cardinal connections

3) Mike Vrabel-at some point he's going to be the guy somewhere. Knows the game & learned from the master in BB.

4) Matt Patricia-learned from one of the best in BB. DC of some very solid defenses despite limited talent though they've had a dropoff early this season

5) Todd Bowles-possibility if the Jets fade in the last 9 games or a possible trade of draft picks. A no nonsense coach who attacks on defense. Cardinal connection #2

6) Gruden-could Chucky finally get the itch to coach again? Maybe but it's probably going to be a team that has some talent, lots of ca$h & power in the organization

There's an offense minded coach I like who has a very good track record. He also has a winning record. His name is Bruce Arians. ;)
